Trying to come up with an idea is the most agonizing but also the most rewarding experience you will ever encounter. It is agonizing because there is no step-by-step process that you can follow to create an idea. It is rewarding because the birth of an idea will create such an 'aha' moment that it will bring so much joy that you'll cherish for a long time.
So how do we go about creating that killer idea? While there are no guaranteed ways to come up with an idea, these are some of the methods that I follow to push my brain to search through its vast subconscious region to discover a golden idea:
1. Gather a set of important keywords from the project brief
2. Search the keywords in Google images
3. Search the keywords in YouTube
4. Imagine in great detail different personas using the product
5. Do a lot of daydreaming. Encourage my mind to wander aimlessly.
I have used these methods to create winning ideas in Tongal. Not every time, but that is OK. Really great ideas are rare.
