Timed short film competitions are a great way to take a break from commercial products. They also help you meet and prove your chops to other creatives in your area. As a veteran of a number of these competitions I'll give a break down of what it takes to succeed in these short competitions. I've won a number of awards at these competitions (most notably I won the Charlotte 48 hour film project and my film went on to win "best graphics" at the global competition) and believe I can present this topic in a fun and informative way.
