February 1st 2015 will be a date to remember for me, as it's when I picked up the phone, quit my job, and became a full time freelancer. But before I made that call, I made sure to have things in order to ensure freelancing success. Recently a number of friends with full time jobs have asked me about if they should go freelance. And for some my answer is actually no. I'd love to write a post that serves as a check list of sorts, about the things I did right when quitting my job, and the things I wish I had done differently. I also think this blog post should include reasons to not quit your job, as some people, while eager, just don't have their work in order yet. Checklist items would include things like Is your reel actually good enough? / Having an honest conversation with your spouse or partner / How much should you have saved in the bank / Social media accounts all up to date / No work is too small when you're first freelancing / Know what your skills are and spot target them.
