At-Home Sports Camp Editing Project
Pitch
05/21/20 - 06/01/20

The elite IMG Academy is looking for FOUR editors to quickly assemble a suite of educational sports training videos featuring some of their world class coaches.

IMG Academy is the world’s largest and most advanced sports training and educational institution. Every summer they host camps where young athletes get a chance to train with some of their world-class coaches, and this year they're hosting tennis & soccer camps online, with instructional video content featuring those same coaches. The coaches have already filmed short lessons using their smartphones, and all of those clips have already been collected in either 9x16 or 16x9. IMG has also developed a template to use for the lesson videos. Now, IMG needs four editors to assemble the existing footage content into 1-4 minute lesson videos.

You can see an example of a tennis lesson video utilizing the coach's footage and the template HERE. It's simple, clean, and straight-forward.

Most lesson videos will be comprised of a single video clip, and IMG will provide the on-screen text copy, so this is predominantly about assembly, background music, and incorporating a basic color grade and sound mix to freshen up the smartphone video. Actual edits will be fairly minimal, although you may need to add slide fade transitions between the instructions & the drills, and cut out any extraneous words at the start or end of takes. Also, note that most tennis clips are 9x16, while most soccer clips are 16x9. If you opt for the soccer lesson videos, you'll also need to adapt the template for the inclusion of the 16x9 video.

For the Pitch Phase, we are asking that you assemble a single proof of concept video illustrating how you would approach this content. You can access sample footage & brand assets HERE for use in your proof of concept video. We are specifically looking for how well you can follow the existing template, and elevate the UGC footage to look the best that it can be.

DELIVERABLES: We are looking for 4 editors (2 for tennis, 2 for soccer) to each create the following:

  • Up to Seventeen 1-4 minute lesson videos (16x9). The number of videos may decrease, but that will not impact your budget.
  • Project files after delivery.

TIMELINE:

EXPOSURE: IMG+ Sports Academy Online Platform

TARGET AUDIENCE: Teenage athletes, male and female

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Given the tight turnaround, we are only considering one editor/team per suite of 18 assets (i.e. you cannot pitch to produce all assets)
  • In lieu of traditional notes and revisions, editors must be available for a video call with IMG on Monday, 6/1 to review assets live, and make any necessary tweaks before delivery.
  • In your Pitch, address how you will elevate UGC footage to create beautiful, cohesive videos. Please include any relevant links to past work that speak to that ability.
  • You will need to add music to the final assets.

OPEN BID:

  • This is an open bid project, so you will get to set your own budget proposal within $3,000-$4,000 range for a suite of up to 18 videos.
  • NOTE: the number of deliverables may actually decrease, but the budget is more about days of work than number of deliverables, and it will not go down if the number of deliverables decreases.
  • By participating in this open bid project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a bid. Though most open bid projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any bids via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all open bid submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • SPORT (REQUIRED): Please select whether you would like to work on soccer or tennis content.

  • PROOF OF CONCEPT VIDEO (REQUIRED):  Please submit ONE 2 minute long sample proof of concept video based on the information provided in the Objectives section utilizing the provided assets.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • BID (REQUIRED): This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget. The Sponsor would like each producer to create eighteen 3-5 minute videos - by dropping content into the existing template - with a cost range of $3,000-$4,000 for the full suite. You DO NOT need to create a full budget proposal - just a bid.

The three most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment, the responsible creator will receive funding. Please note: the payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal. Please see the full payment schedule in the Assets section.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Video Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.

MUSIC: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Universal Production Music and Epidemic Sound, any of which can be used to source music for your video submission to this project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the providers’ names above.

If you choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from third-party catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with your license purchase receipt when you turn in your video paperwork.
