Create a fun, meme-worthy, and festive design for the Tongal holiday card that plays off of overdone 2021 trends!

What a year this year has been. We have high hopes going into 2022, but we’d be lying if we didn't say there were lots of things from 2021 worth remembering and celebrating this holiday season, like NFTs, crypto rallies, Squid Game... the new Beatles documentary (400+ minutes of outtakes anyone?). And, of course, being able to slowly start gathering in person again with those we love.

With all of that in mind, and more, we're looking for one graphic designer to get creative and bring Tongal's 2021 holiday postcard to life. You can take a look at previous cards in the Assets tab for reference, but we're open to a range of styles.

Tongal's 2021 holiday card should be fun and festive, play off an overdone 2021 trend, and make a nod to the holiday season through the color scheme and/or theme. It can be cheeky, celebratory, humorous, and/or a little weird! But, most importantly, creative and clever!

Your card design should also include a short holiday message that’s no more than one sentence and is signed from “Your Friends at Tongal.” It can be simple (e.g. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM YOUR FRIENDS AT TONGAL), cheeky, or witty, and play off of your chosen 2021 trend (the more creative, the better)!

DELIVERABLES:

  • One holiday postcard (5x7) - Full-color, single-sided, full-bleed, in a PDF @ 300dpi. Art will need to incorporate the creative ask and a holiday message.
  • One social version (1080x1080), without the holiday message baked in.

TIMELINE: Final design will be due by EOD December 10th. The full timeline can be found in the Assets tab.

EXPOSURE: Direct mail to Tongal partners and clients, Tongal's Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Tongal partners and clients, and community of creators on social media.

TONE: Celebratory, cheeky, humorous, a little weird.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Your pitch must include a sample/rough design of the holiday card.
  • Design must bring to life the creative ask in the background section.
  • Design must incorporate a holiday message for the 5x7 postcard version.
  • Note that while some previous year's cards have included a front AND a back, you will not be responsible for the back of a card.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your submission.

  • DESIGN (REQUIRED): One 5x7 or 1080x1080 sample of your proposed design, JPG or PNG.

  • NOTES (Optional): Any additional information or artists' statement you'd like to provide.

  • SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES (Optional): Give us any of your personal or professional social links so we can tag you when we post to the relevant channels.

The most compelling design will be greenlit, and upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment, the responsible creator will receive funding to deliver all versions of the design.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS: Once the Design Phase has closed, the greenlit submitters will enter the Revisions Phase. Designers will perform reasonable edits on their designs according to the Sponsor’s feedback.

ASSET DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS: You must also provide layered design files in order to submit final payment.
