Video Compression - Poor Quality

I have submitted a video for the Vineyard Vines contest. After uploading I was shown a preview of the video, the compression seemed to diminnish the quality significantly. This didn't worry me too much so I submitted anyway... I was wondering if it potentially was something on my end (upload to vimeo - http://vimeo.com/5786344 - pw: yup - and it looks great.)... or are the judges seeing the original files?

Judges have ability to look at the original files.

can we raise the quality of the conversion? I am noticing this as well. Does anyone know how Vimeo converts files?

not sure what format you're currently using (.flv?), but flash player movie is able to use and playback h264, which should give you great results

you should be able to perfect your h264 settings, then change the .mov extentions to .mp4 and use the .mp4 links in your flash .xml playlists...

it is .flv and we are using h264, the videos that used that looked great IMO. we've also developed the ability to use HD, there will be an HD on/off switch on the player in a week or so. The file size is large though ~9 MB for 30 secs
