I just watched the two trailers, couldn't believe how heavy handed and anti-science/anti-government the Codfather trailer was (plus wasn't anything like the original pitched idea.) Really bums me out to think that Direct TV might put such a thing out or consider it. Am I misreading it? Glorified slo motion shots of fisherman with soaring strings and evil minor staccato notes every time someone speaks for the ecosystem? That was a major bummer for me to see. Anyone else?

It was definitely a lot different than it sounded from the original pitch. I thought the "Higher Up's" meant the guy like the $50,000,000 company owner, who has his guys take out the competition by any means necessary (Like the dudes on Whale Wars that attempt to stop the Japanese fishermen) The project is definitely different from Direct-TV's end too from when it started. They wanted "Unique American Experiences/Underdog stories" and picked a Wildcard about 2 amazingly talented athletes that everyone knew were the best in their class over the 2 original subject winners. (Not that I'm complaining, because that's the kind of thing I'd spend an hour and a half watching on ESPN) DirectTV is also going to be working with the eventual winner and sitting in the editing room with them, so they'll likely push it in a less anti-government direction. They're paying a lot of money, so they'll be getting exactly what they want! Other than that, both were shot well! We'll see what happens next. This all or nothing is pretty cruel, since both ideas have a lot of time and effort put in. Maybe DirectTV will send the loser some money to help them finish it on their own!
