They've announced project winners on weekends before, but it doesn't happen too often. The winner announcement dates are often based on initial conversations with the sponsors who think they'll be able to take the time to sort through all the submissions much faster than they actually can. When they're spending as much money as they are, they have to be sure they're picking something that is going to be successful and not make their brand look bad. Most of us have stopped bothering to even pay attention to the winner announcement dates because it just adds un-needed stress. You'll get an email as soon as the project winners are picked anyway, so it's better to be surprised by a win than refresh the page hundreds of times and then end up losing.
