Being new here; i noticed that even though Project Phases have dates, a lot of companies seem to need extra time to assess winners, etc.

If a pitch were to be won, can you deny the prize if too much time has passed and you are unable to execute the video because you got another job, or you cannot travel to the location, etc... It seems like companies have free reign as far as how long they take, which puts most of the risk on the creators. Thanks!

The first thing you can do if they push the project by a large amount of time which screws with the original timeline is ask for an extension. People sometimes have to do that in Story Phases when they need to coordinate with a certain Actor and plan travel arrangements to film outside of the state/country. Most brands are willing to give extensions, especially if they're at fault for pushing the project back a few weeks. When the brand takes longer to select winners they usually automatically bump the deadline for the videos by at least the same amount of days. You can always outsource the work to someone else in the area (As long as they do exactly what you promised to do in the Pitch and have the same quality/equipment promised) And if after all that you realize you won't be able to do the project, you can decline it and they'll select an alternate winner. If you're pitching for a project that involves a lot of travel, you should probably make sure you've got plenty of free time to work around the brand/talent's schedules.
