Home Alone and First Blood Same Movie? - Tongal Investigates

Dec 22, 2016

There’s this rumor going around that Home Alone and First Blood are in fact, THE SAME MOVIE. We had our initial doubts… one does not typically associate Macaulay Culkin at his cutest with the mumbling east coast hunk’s beefy arm.

But beneath the surface something was amiss. So, we hired a crack team of film historians and conspiracy theorist experts to investigate this highly suspect case. Here’s what they found…

#1: They’re both great with booby traps.

Of course Rambo’s green beret training comes in handy here, but Kevin’s traps are nothing to sneeze at. In fact, they’re surprisingly deadly:

+ Further Proof

Brian Dennehy better think twice before taking on the McCallister clan.

#2: They’re both fugitives from the law.

If you think about it, Kevin’s crime (stealing a toothbrush) is worse than Rambo’s (literally nothing).

#3: They’ve both had traumatic shaving experiences.

Kevin wasn’t exactly brutalized in a police station but, hey, aftershave really stings.

#4: They both star in Christmas movies.

Home Alone is obviously a Christmas movie but did you know First Blood is, too? Just with way more explosions.

(see... Christmas)

#5: They both have a guardian angel who’s getting on in years.

Whatever mess Rambo finds himself in, Colonel Trautman’s there to watch his back.

Similarly, Old Man Marley will hit your enemies with a shovel if you go to church with him.

#6: In their next adventure, they both head to the jungle.

In his follow-up outing, the government turns Rambo loose in the jungles of Vietnam so he can rescue some forgotten POWs.  In Home Alone 2, the McCallisters turn Kevin loose in the jungles of Vietnam because they’re terrible parents.

Conclusion:

I think we can safely say that not only are Home Alone and First Blood the same exact movie, but the entire franchises mirror each other. Well played Hollywood… well played.
