Star Wars Day May the Fourth be with you

May the Fourth - also known as Star Wars Day - began as a grassroots holiday invented by Star Wars fans to celebrate one of the world’s most beloved movie franchises. Many of our community members and fellow Tongal team members also count themselves as part of that fandom, so we wanted to do our part to add to the celebration by rounding up our favorite Star Wars-themed videos produced by the Tongal community.

1. Go Rogue Series

Videos by Mack & Tuck Productions

We have to start with the Go Rogue Series - the buzziest collection of videos set in the Star Wars universe to ever come out of the Tongal community! Created by Mack & Tuck Productions and featuring Go Rogue toys and figurines from multiple toy brands, this stop-motion series has amassed more than 14 million views and earned the respect of industry leaders. It’s also a heck of a lot of fun!

2. Jim vs Vader

This action-packed video took first place in a joint Pringles-Star Wars Project called “The Force for Fun” and includes a brief cameo from the Indie Machines’ own Erik and Justin. Fun fact: The commercial aired on broadcast TV during the series premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Fall 2013.

3. Luke’s Landspeeder - LEGO Star Wars Mini Movie

The most recent Star Wars-themed video to be released in the wild is this LEGO piece created to drive awareness for their new Luke’s Landspeeder playset. Here, Somethings Awry Productions employ lots of humor and some key Star Wars sound design to really make the world of Tatooine come to life.

4. The Mission - Chex Mix

Another snack brand takes a walk on The Dark Side, this time in a cross-promo between Chex Mix and the first installment of the Star Wars Anthology series, Rogue One. Sometimes you just need another rye chip, y’know?

5. Rogue One Stop-Motion How-To Video

Video by Maya Rudolph

For Disney’s Star Wars 'My Rogue Story' Video Contest, the brand needed a tutorial to show kids just how fun and easy it is to create a stop-motion animation of their own. This how-to from Maya is chock-full of DIY ideas for constructing locations and creating special effects.

6. Sounds Like a Party

Another super-fun video that came out of the Force For Fun Project (seriously though, go watch ‘em all!). The second place video is a mash-up of sweded Star Wars moments coupled with the fun of hanging out with friends. Team Spaceman even shared how they made the video with StarWars.com - including a side-by-side comparison of their video and original Star Wars scenes.

It’s clear that the Star Wars universe, even 40 years after it first captured our collective imaginations, continues to inspire creators and fans alike. No matter when you became a part of the fandom, we’d like to wish you a happy Star Wars Day - May the Fourth be with you!
