It’s the most wonderful time of the year… the eggnog is poisoned, shell casings from bullets jingle all the way, and one of your presents is a timed explosive that could level the entire floor of an office building.
‘Tis the season for… disguises designed to appeal to your nostalgia and childlike wonder, but in actuality facilitate your subterfuge and large gatherings of people too distracted to notice your nefarious plot.
Find out if you are naughty or nice… either way the decorations will turn deadly, snow and ice will betray you, and the score will pervert cheerful anthems of joy and celebration into moments of menace.
There is a long tradition of action movies that take place over Christmas and the winter holiday season. They range from thriller to action-comedy, as well as heist, superhero, horror, and sports. No high-octane drama is exempt from the holiday treatment as evidenced by the wide-ranging list that follows:
Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Reindeer Games, Behind Enemy Lines, The Last Boy Scout, The Ice Harvest, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Rocky IV, Batman Returns, Gremlins, Iron Man 3, Nightmare Before Christmas.
If you are creating, writing, or directing your own action holiday movie, we've put together a playlist to help get you in the holiday spirit and then twist and invert into an action-packed extravaganza.
Happy holiday writing!
