ABOUT THE VERTICAL VIDEO WORKSHOP
The Vertical Video Workshop was the first installment in Tongal's Branded Content Mentorship Program - an ongoing project to pair established creative professionals with emerging creators who are looking to learn a new skill in the world of branded content. In this workshop, mentor Ryan Larkin covered the basics of vertical video content - from the ins and outs of different vertical platforms, to ideating and producing for a vertical frame, to adapting existing content to perform better in vertical forms. The first installment in Tongal's Branded Content Mentorship Program was powered in partnership with The Melacast Network. The Melacast Network is a platform that is making diversity in the industry the norm and was built to connect BIPOC actors, directors, and crew with the opportunities, talent, and resources needed to tell culturally rich and diverse stories in film.
Ryan Larkin is an award-winning director and producer specializing in short form video content. In 2019, Ryan's short film, To Smell the Roses, won the top prize at the popular ON LOCATION event from NewFilmmakers Los Angeles. In 2020, Ryan's short film, Curiosity, was a Top 10 Finalist in the CINESPACE filmmaking competition hosted by NASA and Richard Linklater. When he's not working on his own projects, Ryan creates content for Netflix's social media accounts via Big Machine Productions.
