Have you heard? Tongal just ordered its very own red carpet and we’re rolling it out for the 1st Annual Tongies!
The Tongies are going to be a proper award show - black tie, shiny statues and highlight reels of all the nominations. That’s where you come in. We’re looking for a talented video editor to cook up some short sizzle reels to play before we announce each award. We’ll provide the video files and access to our music libraries. You provide the voice-over, bumpers and transition effects.
So if you know your way around Avid* and have a friend with a golden voice, then click the objectives tab to find out more.
*Or Final Cut. Or Premiere. We don’t discriminate.
The goal of this project is to create twelve 60-second sizzle reels of the Tongie nominees to play during the presentation of each award. Sizzle reels will be done in the style of the videos played during the Oscars or the VMAs. Reels will also need to include a voice-over to read the names of the nominees and the titles of the videos.
Tongal will provide the pitch winner with video files of each nominee and access to music from one of our three music partner sites. The reels will highlight each of the following award categories:
--Target Audience: Tongalers!
--Executional Mandatories:
--Tone: Fun, epic, energetic.
--Exposure: On the big screen at the first annual Tongie Awards Ceremony!
This Project will be worth a total of $5,000 and consists of two Phases: a Pitch Phase and a Sizzle Reel Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute the Sizzle Reels:
The most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $1,500 to help create the Sizzle Reels. Additionally, upon submitting Sizzle Reels that satisfy the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED the Sizzle Reel Award. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Sizzle Reel submissions, you will win an additional $3,500. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Sizzle Reel Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 2: Sizzle Reel – The winner from the Pitch Phase will each create 12 60-second length videos based upon their winning Pitch.
--Sizzle Reel Phase Payout: Winner of the Sizzle Reel Phase will earn $3,500.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with Epidemic Sound for the Sundance Institute Short Film Challenge. Music from the Epidemic Sound catalog is available to filmmakers at no cost solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. Filmmakers may also choose to use original music. If you are selected as a winner and your Submission uses custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from any other other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Sizzle Reel creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won (up to $500 per place). That’s a potential $125 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
