Create a 60-second video with 30-second cut down that incorporates the winning Positioning,“If you’ve got the balls, we’ve got the shoes.”

If you know anything about basketball, you know about Spalding. For over 130 years, their name has meant unparalleled quality and cutting edge innovation. Now it’s going to mean something else, too. Freaking awesome basketball shoes!

You may remember the previous Positioning project where Spalding asked the Tongal community to come up with a marketing campaign around their new high performance shoes for young b ball players. You did such an awesome job, they’re back for more!

These revolutionary new shoes come loaded with D3O technology –- a responsive cushioning that not only absorbs shock but also transfers impact energy back to the player on takeoff. Jump to the Assets tab right now to see some more shots of these amazing shoes and get inspired.

Spalding now wants you to create videos around the winning Positioning, “If you’ve got the balls, we’ve got the shoes.” Please read the Objectives section to get all the important details on this exciting new project.

The goal of this project is to create a 60-second video with 30-second cut down that incorporates the winning Positioning, “If you’ve got the balls, we’ve got the shoes.” Spalding selected this Positioning because it reflects the storied heritage of the brand while boldly stating their entry into the shoe market. Videos should emphasize the D30 technology above all else but can also touch on their cool looks and fashionability. While Spalding wants people to have some fun with the “If you’ve got the balls, we’ve got the shoes” tagline the focus should be on the boldness and revolutionary aspect of these new shoes NOT bad puns and innuendo.

--Key Marketing Messages:

The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $1,500 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $5,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $18,000 First Place video prize. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 2: VIDEO – The 2 winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 60-second Video with a 30-second cut down based upon their winning Pitch. All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that can be based on the designated Positioning or a totally original concept that is not based on any previous material.  The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the highest scoring Wildcard Video along with the 2 winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, the 2 Pitch winners, along with 1 Wildcard creator, will receive prizes.
