popchips’ mission is to put the fun back in snacking…one bag at a time. 

popchips are an all-natural chip like you’ve never tasted before. never fried (unhealthy). never baked (undelicious). popchips start with wholesome potatoes, add a little heat and pressure, and pop! it’s a chip. the only thing added is a flavorful blend of seasonings for a snack so crispy and delicious, you won’t even notice it’s (we hesitate to say) healthier. thanks to the magic of popping, popchips have all the flavor and less than half the fat of fried chips. what’s left out are all the trans fat, cholesterol, fake colors and flavors that give snacking a bad name.

create a clever and humorous 30-second commercial based on one of two themes:

1) popchips mission of putting the fun back in snacking or

2) the snackers credo, “you’re allowed to eat the whole bag.” (hint: commercials of blatant gorging and gluttony will not win this thing).

this project will be worth a total of $15,000 and consist of four phases so there’s a place for all of you to contribute, regardless of your skill set.

phase 1: concept – in 250 characters or less, tell us your concept for the commercial. remember, a concept is not a detailed script, it is a brief synopsis or distillation of what will happen in the commercial. as always, concepts should be clever, engaging, and fun. winning concepts will receive a 5% residual payment of every winning video they are used to generate and a year’s supply of popchips. each member who submits a concept will also receive a month’s supply of popchips, just be sure to enter your address into your tongal profile, so we know where to ship it to!

phase 2: video – select one of the 5 winning concepts from phase 1 and make a 30 second commercial for popchips based on it. think of the concept as the central thesis that you should build your commercial around. as always, creativity and originality are king so make it interesting and have some fun with it. as a bonus prize, each video submission will receive a month’s supply of popchips (be sure to enter your address into your tongal profile, so we know where to ship it to!) with the 5 winners each getting a year’s supply of popchips.

phase 3: prediction – after the video phase closes, the submissions go on to be ranked by all of the project judges. at the same time, you’ll be invited to participate in our $500 prediction phase by reviewing the same submissions and predicting which ones you think our judges will select, in the right order.

phase 4: facebook vote – after all of the videos have been judged, the winning five (or more if we love them!) will be uploaded to popchips’ facebook page for their fans to vote on. the video that receives the greatest number of “likes” will be prominently displayed on the popchips facebook page and youtube channel, while the creator will be highlighted on the popchips web site as the snacker of the month and will get a years supply of popchips.

--music: musicrevolution.com, an online marketplace for royalty-free production music, is making professional tracks available to tongal members at no charge for a limited use comp license for their submissions to the popchips video project. tongal members are being provided with a royalty-free license at no charge or obligation, limited for use only in connection with a submission to the popchips video project on tongal. before requesting a download link to a musicrevolution track, please read the license agreement. any use of a musicrevolution track in connection with a submission will be subject to the terms of such license agreement. use of any musicrevolution track outside of tongal is strictly prohibited. tongal members are encouraged to browse the entire musicrevolution catalog available here (https://www.musicrevolution.com/). if interested in using a track from the musicrevolution library, solely for use in the popchips video project on tongal, please email music@tongal.com for a download link to a specific track.

1. videos must not exceed thirty (30) seconds in length.  preferred format is HD 720p 16x9.  acceptable file formats are .mov, .avi, .mp4, .wmv.  acceptable codecs are H.264 (MP4), MPEG-4, H.263, MPGV, WMV, DivX.

2. all work must be your own and free of any copyrighted material.

3. videos must mention the brand name at least once.  also, you must show the popchips logo at least once on screen. you can choose from any of the logos provided on the project files link on this page.

4. videos cannot contain any profanity, offensive language, nudity or otherwise objectionable material, the determination of which is solely at the discretion of popchips.

5. videos must not portray popchips in a negative way, the determination of which will solely reside with popchips.

6. videos must be in the english language or subtitled.

7. limit 5 submission(s) per member, per phase.

8. you must be at least thirteen (13) years or older to enter.

9. minimum twenty-five (25) videos or the contest will repost for seven (7) days.
