It is Munchkin Inc.’s mission to rid the world of tired and mundane products by developing clever, innovative solutions that excite and delight families – making parenting safer, easier and more fun. Munchkin knows it’s the little things® that often make the biggest difference and its innovative products are sold worldwide to the largest retail customers such as Wal-Mart, Target and Babies R Us.
Munchkin’s new line of Click Lock™ cups are super cool and “click” with any lifestyle. These cups feature a simple click-and-lock lid to securely close for a spill and leak-proof seal (parents’ #1 need) - guaranteed! Parents will see, hear and feel the cup lock, so they have triple assurance against dribbles and drips. It is the only sippy cup available that makes a re-assuring audible click and Munchkin wants to video to celebrate this unique feature. Munchkin is so confident these new cups are mess-free, it even backs up that promise with a 100% replacement guarantee.
Create an engaging 30-second video that brings Click Lock™ cups to life in a creative way. Videos can be witty/funny, sentimental/emotional, but must connote the “cool factor” of the product. It should stand out, be memorable – and look and feel different from typical baby product advertising. Munchkin is interested in seeing concepts that incorporate the cups’ click into music, but submissions do not have to be music-based.. Visuals are important – the video should not rely soley on audio to convey the message. Note that these videos may eventually be used as digital advertising so it is very important that they not exceed 30 seconds.
--Key Marketing Messages:
• Munchkin Click Lock™ cups are superior because the Click Lock™ feature really works:
o It is truly spill-proof and leak-proof because it lets me know with a simple CLICK when a leak-proof seal has been created.
o Parents will hear, feel and can see the tab click.
o The company 100% guarantees that it will be leak-proof.
• It’s new, it’s cool, and it can take my toddler’s use and abuse without ruining my carpet!
--Target Audience: Moms with children 6 – 24 months.
This project will be worth a total of $10,000 and consist of three phases. Also, this tournament style process will progress differently from previous projects, so be sure to read the following information carefully.
PHASE 1: CONCEPT – In 250 characters or less, tell us your Concept for a memorable and engaging 30-second video that brings Click Lock™ cups to life in a creative way. Remember, a Concept is not a detailed script; it is a bite-sized spark of genius or brief synopsis or distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Concepts should be clever, engaging, and fun. Winning Concepts will receive $250 and a 5% residual payment of every winning Video they are used to generate.
PHASE 2: PITCH – Using text (500 characters or less), images (storyboards), video, and external links (to other supporting assets, i.e., your reel, etc.), give us your Pitch for how YOU would go about producing this Video based on one of the 5 winning Concepts. The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and will receive a $500 production budget to help create their Video. Those winners (upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit and IP Assignment) will also be GUARANTEED to place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected, you will earn a minimum of $2,750 with a 50-50 shot at the $6,000 first place video prize. Remember your Pitch can include any, and all, of the assets mentioned above, but you MUST include a link to some of your previous video work on Tongal or elsewhere to be considered for this phase. For an example of an effective pitch, check out Sean Clark’s winning Benjamin Moore “Find Your Perfect Color” Pitch. To avoid information cascades, all Pitches will remain private until after the video winners of the subsequent phase are announced.
PHASE 3: VIDEO – Pitch winners from the previous round will submit their fully formed 30-second videos. Those videos will then be Judged by Munchkin brand representatives, who will determine their final ranking order. The brand representatives may also use online voting by fans to help inform their votes. The 1st place grand prize video winner will take home $5,500 and the 2nd place runner up will take home $2,250.
--Exposure: Winning videos will be place on the Munchkin YouTube channel, Facebook page, website, embedded within digital ads to run on various consumer-facing sites, as part of general Munchkin marketing and or at trade shows / account presentations.
--Samples: Samples of Munchkin’s Click Lock™ cups will be made available to the winning Pitch Creators at no charge.
