Blending downtown cool with the toughness of Harley-Davidson, Harley-Davidson of New York City (HDNYC) is a one of a kind destination for those who live life on the edge. As the most innovative, hippest, and digitally savvy franchise, HDNYC offers a unique experience to Harley lovers of all ages and backgrounds.

Working with Tongal, Harley-Davidson of New York City is looking to spread awareness about the flagship and sister store and show Harley-Davidson fans how to ride NYC style. With a LIVE event coming up SEVEN DAYS FROM NOW at the flagship store (TriBeCa), we're looking for ONE filmmaking team to film that event and use the footage to showcase what makes HDNYC stand out among other franchises.

What you need to know:

  • You will be responsible for your own travel and lodging for this project. However, HDNYC will grant you access passes to the live 3-Day event.

The goal of this project is to produce SEVEN (7) Videos (outlined below) that build the brand of Harley-Davidson of New York City and bring awareness to the flagship and sister store by leveraging the LIVE event taking place in TriBeCa from June 23rd – 25th.

You will be expected to deliver:

  • ONE 2-3 minute anthem Video that will aim to create a brand within a brand, highlighting the unique nature of Harley-Davidson NYC featuring footage captured from the event from June 23rd - 25th.
  • SIX 15-30 second Videos highlighting the unique nature of the store with focus on:

1.) Franchise Layout and Architecture (video wall, motorcycle lift, glass elevators etc.)

2.) Bike Builder / customized bikes

3.) Concierge Service (located in Queens)

4.) Customized Merchandise

5.) TriBeCa Location

6.) Store Café (located in TriBeCa flagship store)

The Videos need to drive home that Harley-Davidson NYC exists and show viewers how it is the youngest, hippest, most innovative and digitally savvy flagship store in the US. While featuring the Harley-Davidson product, the Videos should focus on what makes HDNYC stand out among other franchises.

--Key Marketing Messages: We are the city.

--Target Audience:

Two main audiences are:

  • Young adults 18-35
  • Core riders, men 35-55

However, Videos should not alienate any audiences.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • The Harley-Davidson of NYC logo must appear in all the videos. Logo should be shown sporadically through out the Anthem Video, and at least twice in each of the Spotlight Videos.
  • Should the Harley-Davidson of NYC logo and the Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield logo appear in the same frame, the Bar and Shield logo must not be smaller than the Harley-Davidson of NYC token logo.
  • Realistic representation of the HDNYC customer base, specifically diversity in the riders featured. In the Anthem Video especially, there must be cultural diversity.
  • Videos need to mention both locations- Flagship store on Broadway and the sister store in Queens (42-11 Northern Blvd, Long Island City).
  • Videos need to feature some level of NYC glamour/class.
  • Videos need to mention the neighborhood "TriBeCa."
  • Videos need to capture the unique features of the Broadway location- specifically the multi-level layout, the glass bike lift, the PowerWall bike builder experience.
  • Please make sure your Video adheres to the Harley-Davison Minimum Advertised Price Policy (MAP PAM) guidelines.

PLEASE DO NOT SHOW:

  • Poor biker stereotypes such as criminal elements, racism, anti-Semitism, sexism, or homophobia.
  • The "used car salesmen feel." Videos should not feel “cheesy” or “lame.”
  • Mentions of accidents or wrecks
  • Riders on running motorcycles without helmets.

--Tone:

  • The tone of your Video should be cool, unique, edgy. Think John Varvatos.
  • Viewers should feel a sense of belonging.

--Exposure: Facebook, YouTube, In Store, HDNYC website.

This project will be worth a total of $35,000 and consist of 2 Phases: a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a series of Videos for this Project:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.

  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • Image (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, casting notes, anything that helps get your point across.

  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $10,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $25,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 2: VIDEO – The winner from the Pitch Phase will create a series of Videos (ONE (1) 2-3 minute Anthem Video, SIX (6) 15-30 second Spotlight Videos) based upon his/her winning Pitch.

--Video Phase Payout: Winner of the Video Phase will earn the following prize: 1st place $25,000.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with Epidemic Sound which you can use to source music for your Video submission to this Project.
