zulily, an online retailer, believes that every day can be special. zulily’s model, anchored in its website and daily email, refreshes with new sales of over 9,000 products every day, and allows customers to constantly uncover something unexpected and unique. Whether it’s a new brand, an interesting product, or a boutique-inspired style, every day is a moment to find something new, and offers women and moms the chance to surround themselves, their family, and their home with things they love. Above all, zulily does this at a great value – the daily deals are offered at up to 70% off. At its core, zulily promises customers discovery, freshness, and value – every day.

Customers who find that zulily greatly resonates with them are those who value differentiating their own style, and standing apart from the crowd – whether it’s dressing themselves, outfitting their children, or buying something unique for their home. zulily is not just about apparel –it also offers items in home, kitchen, healthy & beauty, toys, pets,  and more. Core customers also appreciate that zulily offers this ability to find unique items at accessible price points and great value.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Heads up, guys! This project is a little different than most. If you are selected as a Pitch Winner, the brand may or may not green light you into production. However, the brand will retain the rights to the creative concept of your Pitch if you win and you will receive the Pitch earnings. If you are selected as a Pitch winner AND you are green lit into production, you will receive a separate production budget in addition to your Pitch earnings to create the Video based on your Pitch.

THERE ARE NO RESIDUALS IN THIS PROJECT.

The goal of this project is to create compelling Pitches based on exciting Ideas that make consumers immediately want to visit zulily.com, and that also are in line with the zulily brand. Please note this is an Idea and Pitch ONLY project. There is no Video Phase.

This Project will be worth a total of $20,000 and consists of 2 Phases: an Idea Phase and a Pitch Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA  – Tell us your Idea for an exciting TV commercial for Zulily in 140 characters or less.  Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video.  As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging.  The four winning Idea creators will receive $500 each.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Script (REQUIRED): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video.
  • Storyboards (REQUIRED): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across. Storyboards should be final and ready to be produced.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The 3 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $6,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private.

This project is different than most. If you are selected as a Pitch Winner you will receive the Pitch earnings, but the brand may or may not green light you into production. However, the brand will retain the rights to the creative concept of your Pitch if you win and you will receive the Pitch earnings. If you are selected as a Pitch winner AND you are green lit into production, you will receive a separate production budget in addition to your Pitch earnings to create your Pitch.
