Team up with Yara and Tongal to create TWO shareable Videos that help raise awareness on the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) future and imminently important decision that will enforce a stricter limit on global Sulphur Oxide (SOx) emissions and highlights Yara’s product solution that allows shipowners to keep these emissions at bay.

You know that feeling when you step outside on a crisp, bright, sunny day and you can’t help but take a deep breath and allow the fresh air to fill your lungs? We might not always talk about it, but those small moments can bring a smile to your face, energize you and give you a sense of rejuvenation.  The unfortunate reality is that air pollution is rising globally and clean and fresh air is deteriorating rapidly. Our health suffers, as does the environment and it has become more crucial than ever that strict air quality regulations are enforced globally.

Thankfully, the concern of air pollution as an emergent health problem has not gone unheard. IMO, an organization responsible for implementing marine regulations, will apply stricter regulations on Sulphur Oxide (SOx) emissions, an air pollutant created mainly from the exhaust on large ship vessels. Yara Marine, a global firm specializing in environmental protection for maritime and offshore industries, has created a technical solution that helps reduce this harmful gas by up to 99%.  This innovative solution helps shipowners adhere to the current marine regulations, while decreasing these SOx emissions.

As air pollution continues to rise, Yara is looking to bring attention to and instill a sense of urgency to the environmental decision the IMO will make to place a limit on global sulphur emissions. That’s where you come in. Yara wants you, Tongalers, to come up with shareable Video, up to 60-seconds in length, which frames this important environmental decision that lies ahead.  Your Video should highlight and portray the urgency that the IMO must implement tighter restrictions to improve air quality in the immediate future. Additionally, you will need to create a second Video, 30-45 seconds in length, that informs the viewer on Yara’s proven technological solutions that allows shipowners to adhere to the current regulations in place.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Do NOT show vessel brands or names of vessels.
  • Do NOT portray ship vessels owners in a negative light.
  • The 60-second Video should focus on raising awareness on SOx pollution and the future environmental decision the IMO will make to restrict these emissions.
  • The 30 to 45-second Video should be product focus, highlighting Yara’s proven technological solutions that adhere to the current SOx emission regulation. The same footage from the 60-second spot can be repurposed for this Video, however, you will need to provide a separate VO script.
  • Your Videos should NOT insinuate that if marine transportation were minimized, SOx pollution would be resolved.

The goal of this project is to create a shareable Video, up to 60-seconds in length, that builds knowledge and awareness around the IMO’s future decision to enforce a stricter limit on global Sulphur Oxide (SOx) emissions. By creating a sense of urgency, Yara is hoping to influence non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and politicians to ensure that this decision is not delayed. Additionally, you will need to create a second Video, 30-45 seconds in length, that shows how Yara has proven solutions for shipowners and shipyards to help reduce their SOx emissions. The same footage from the 60-second spot can be repurposed for this Video, however, you will need to provide a separate VO. Both Videos must contain a 2D end tag or bumper.

Yara is open to how you approach this subject matter, just so long as your Video gets the point across clearly and respectfully.

Script Approval:  The Pitch Winner will be required to send TWO VO scripts, one for each Video, for Yara to review before filming. Your Pitches should demonstrate how you’re going to approach the topic of each Video.

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Treatment (Optional): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in the video.

The most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $8,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $16,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 2: VIDEO – The Pitch winner from the Pitch Phase will create a Video up to 60-seconds in length, a 30 to 45-second Video, and 2D end card based upon their winning Pitch.
