WrestleMania Goes Hollywood Concept Project
Concept
01/11/23 - 01/18/23

Submit your concepts for videos, content series, photos, or something else altogether to help USA Network create content that drives excitement for WWE's biggest event of the year - WrestleMania - which will be taking place in Hollywood this year.

Whether you're a fan of professional wrestling or not, chances are you've probably heard of WrestleMania. It's the Super Bowl of pro-wrestling and WWE's biggest show of the year, where feuds come to a head, where new champions are crowned, and where WWE Superstars put on iconic matches. This year, WrestleMania 39 will be going Hollywood, when it takes place in April at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. To help drive excitement in the months leading up to WrestleMania, USA Network - the home of WWE's Monday Night RAW programming - wants concepts for individual videos, content series, and formats - or something else altogether - that fuse the worlds of Hollywood and professional wrestling.

When it comes to blending Hollywood and professional wrestling, the Sponsor is open to any and all ideas, ranging from the movie industry and production, to the glitz & glam of Hollywood, and even iconic Los Angeles landmarks. The only things you'll want to avoid are concepts that reference specific movies, shows, actors, personalities, or other IP. That means, for example, that you should not include concepts where WWE Superstars reenact iconic movie scenes, or hang out with Vin Diesel. That said, movie tropes are totally fair game. So if you wanted to use WWE footage to create a fake romcom-style movie trailer, that would be fine. Don't feel limited to just movies though! Think about the larger world that makes up "Hollywood" - from awards shows, to celebrity sightings, to movie posters and billboards, the Hollywood sign, and beyond.

In terms of the type of content that could come out of these concepts, USA is open to anything from creative editing pieces, to narrated stories, to animations, to illustrations or static images. If you have an idea that would include direct to camera dialogue or voiceover from WWE Superstars, feel free to include it. However, you should stay away from any concepts that would require filming more complicated scenarios with the Superstars. Focus most of your energy on how we could leverage existing footage, imagery or audio, or other formats such as animation, motion graphics, cinemagraphs, etc, in unique and interesting ways.

In addition, you can include concepts that connect back to the nostalgia of past WrestleManias, but they should also be able to connect back to the upcoming WrestleMania 39 event as well.

For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

EXPOSURE: Content stemming from these concepts could go on to live on the following platforms:

TARGET AUDIENCE: Wrestling fans of all ages

TONE: Tone will vary based on the concept, but the Sponsor is open to everything from humor, to epicness, to nostalgia.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • You can include concepts that require WWE Superstars speaking directly to camera or providing VO, but you should avoid concepts that would require filming more complex scenarios with the Superstars, or involve them doing anything physical.
  • You cannot include concepts that would require talent eating or drinking anything.
  • You cannot include concepts that would require talent doing anything alcohol related.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your submission.

  • CONCEPT (REQUIRED): Tell us your concept for a video, series, photo, or other form of content, using up to 250 characters. Remember, a concept is not a detailed script - it is a spark of inspiration or distillation of what will happen in the content. As always, concepts should be clever and engaging.

  • HELPFUL REFERENCE LINKS (Optional): Have you seen something else out there that you think makes for a helpful reference? Or a a link that helps illustrate the concept you're submitting? Feel free to include a link to any existing content that'll be useful when trying to understand your concept.

The five most compelling concept submissions will be selected and receive $300 each. Five additional concept submissions will be selected for Honorable Mention and will receive $50 each. Submissions selected for Honorable Mention will not be used by the client, and not all submissions identified as Finalists will receive an Honorable Mention.

Should your concept be selected, you must complete the Winner Affidavit and IP Assignment forms in order to receive payment. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification when a selection has been announced.
