Create short Videos that let Parents in on the secret that when illness strikes and dehydration gets real, Pedialyte can help everyone rehydrate – kids and parents both!

Many parents find out pretty quick that when the flu strikes, Pedialyte is the best rehydration beverage they can get – and keeping kids hydrated is clutch when it comes to recovery. But here’s a secret little life hack that many parents don’t yet know: When dehydration gets real, Pedialyte can help PARENTS get back to normal fast too.

Parents and kids both need to replenish electrolytes and fluids when they’re sick, and Pedialyte is specifically designed to do just that, with more electrolytes and less sugar than other common beverages – including those sports drinks that like to tout their rehydration abilities. Pedialyte is actually the #1 Pediatrician and Pharmacist recommended brand for rehydration – so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that if Pedialyte can be the best solution for your child, it can be the best solution for you.

Now, Tongalers, we want you to help us get the secret out with a suite of short Videos, so check out the details below…

The goal of this project is to create a suite of THREE (3) short Videos that lets Parents in on the secret that when illness strikes and dehydration gets real, Pedialyte can help both kids AND Parents rehydrate. Your suite should be accompanied by THIRTY (30) total still images (10 per Video) as well as TWO (2) infographics. We’ve broken this task into two parts with different deliveries and slightly different asks: Part 1 is what Ideators should focus on – two creative 15-second Videos designed to show Parents that Pedialyte can help them feel better fast when they’re sick with the flu and they’re suffering from dehydration; Part 2 involves one 15 to 30-second "Science" Video designed to cover the science behind why Pedialyte is the best option, as well as the 30 still images and 2 infographics.

Ideators! – the top occasion that Parents cite for using Pedialyte is when their kids get seriously dehydrated from flu. However, the key insight that you still want to bring to life creatively is the secret life-hack that Pedialyte works great for adults too. Your idea can be inspired by the tagline “when dehydration gets real,” or it can be completely original. They’re open to both. Additionally, you should only submit Ideas for the 15-second Videos.

Filmmakers! – you should try to present a problem/solution narrative with the 15-second Videos, and try to establish the problem right away so it can work as both your hook, and the conflict that drives the spot. Note that both of your 15-second Videos should follow a different story, and the 15 to 30-second "Science" Video will focus on communicating important evidence for Pedialyte’s effectiveness using some form of on-screen graphic design elements. The "Science" Video can incorporate live-action footage from your other Videos, as well as any other live-action footage that you think is appropriate. Your two infographics will appear within the "Science" Video.

You are encouraged to submit Scripts for the two 15-second Videos in your Pitch, and address your ability to handle on-screen graphic design elements, but it is not necessary that you submit a Script for the "Science" Video. After your Pitch is selected, the brand will be able to share more information with you about what elements they’d like to cover in the "Science" Video.

NOTE: This project involves a rolling timeline for Video delivery, with separate Due Dates for the different Videos. Please review the Timeline and Deliverables at bottom.

--Key Takeaway: Pedialyte is more than a remedy for sick babies – it’s the dehydration cure for parents looking to feel better fast when the flu strikes.

--Key Marketing Messages:

  • Pedialyte is not just for kids and babies – parents can use it too!
  • Pedialyte is the #1 Pediatrician and Pharmacist Recommended Brand for rehydration.
  • For challenging gastronomic symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea Pedialyte helps you feel better faster than other common beverages.

--Brand Character & Tone:

  • The brand is authentic, confident, and credible.
  • The tone should be relatable and authentic, but respectfully irreverent. Humor is appropriate, but should come from a grounded and honest place, and it’s key that you maintain the confidence and credibility of the brand.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • Must set up a problem/solution dynamic and showcase Pedialyte as the most trusted solution for Adults.
  • Should set up flu-related gastronomic symptoms, like vomiting and diarrhea, as the challenging dehydration moments and then establish how Pedialyte helps you feel better fast.
  • Must drive clear differentiation for Pedialyte vs. alternatives.
  • Must include #1 Pediatrician and Pharmacist recommended Brand call-out: #1 Pediatrician and Pharmacist Recommended Brand
  • If child is integrated as part of the creative, child should be approximately 5 yrs. old

--Target Audience: Parents with kids 4-6 years old looking for solutions for relief from dehydration caused by the flu. In many cases, they are currently using other common household beverages to rehydrate, including water, sports drinks, juices, and sodas.

WEB OPTIMIZATION: Consider the following best practices as you develop your Videos

  • You only have 3 seconds to grab someone’s attention, and this means engaging the audience with a hook of some kind IMMEDIATELY. Striking imagery helps, but you should think about an opening that introduces conflict, asks a question, teases curiosity, or challenges the audience, leading them to wonder, “What comes next?!” Audiences are naturally curious, so if you tap into that, you can succeed.
  • Tell a story. Take a risk. If it looks and feels like an ad, they’re going to tune out.
  • Don’t be afraid to creatively  use on-screen text to capture the audience’s attention, communicate key messaging, and contextualize what they’re about to see.
  • Consider non-linear storytelling by opening with a reveal or a tease that you’d otherwise save for the end, and change the order in which you present your imagery and narrative.

PRE-PRODUCTION NOTES: This project includes a Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?) before the Video Phase. This means you will be required to submit certain items for Approval before you are able to move into Video Phase. The Approval items for this project are:

  • SCRIPT – You must submit TWO full Scripts, including all action, dialog, on-screen text, and any V.O. that is present. The brand may provide feedback on your Script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a Script is approved by the brand.

IMPORTANT: No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense) so please don’t jump the gun.

--Platform: The Videos will be used on YouTube and other digital platforms where audiences will be able to hear audio. May also live on the brand’s website, and on Facebook and other social channels.

This Project will be worth a total of $60,000 and consists of three Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a Video that lets Parents in on the Pedialyte secret in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The FOUR (4) winning Idea creators will receive $500 each There are no residuals on this project.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video suite based on two of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in the video.
  • Script (ENCOURAGED): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The single most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $28,000 to help create the Video suite. Additionally, upon submitting a Video suite that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED the winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submissions, you will win an additional $30,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

  • CASTING – You must submit at least two actor options per role. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options.

PHASE 4: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Pitch Winner will create TWO (2) 15-second Videos, and ONE (1) 30-second "Science" Video, based upon their winning Pitch.
