To celebrate 25 Yrs of Nicktoons, Nick wants you to create a fun and shareable Video about your favorite Nicktoons and what they mean to you.
Update for Wildcard Creators: Nickelodeon does not want you to shy away from grounded executions that feel authentic and resonate emotionally with you, the creator, and the viewer... the takeaway: It's about how Nicktoons made you laugh, but also made you feel! We want you to bring that to life in an original and unique way in your videos. GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!
Since 1991, Nickelodeon has produced some of the most memorable, inventive, and kid-inspired animated shows in the history of television. You know them as Nicktoons.
In 2016, Nickelodeon will celebrate 25 years of Nicktoons (YAY!), as well as the creators who brought to life their legendary shows, and of course, their legion of passionate fans throughout the world – YOU!
Think you might fit into this category? Do you remember the very first original Nicktoons – The Ren and Stimpy Show and Rugrats?! Can you tell us who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Do you still smell pizza when you hear the word ‘Cowabunga!”? Are you currently obsessed with Pig, Goat, Banana, Cricket?
For the past 25 years, Nicktoons has created meaningful, inspired and artistically adventurous animation for kids and we believe that 25 years from now, Gen Z will be talking about today’s collection of Nicktoons with the same passion.
Because Nick knows there are certain theme songs, characters, worlds and stories that stay with you forever, they want to hear from YOU - the fans, the creators, those who grew up with Nicktoons and still have a deep adoration for the classics - and from the current kid audience today.
Help Nick celebrate 25 years by showing us what Nicktoons means to you!
Read on to the Objectives section to learn more about how you can share your Story or submit a Video...

--Brand Persona: Nickelodeon was the first kid’s network. It was a network created just for kids, that tells stories from a kid POV. Kids often call Nickelodeon their “best friend” because they connect with them through comedy, rebelliousness, inventiveness and heart. Nick embodies the spirit of being a kid and thinking like a kid, one of many reasons why it remains the #1 network for kids.
Nickelodeon is immensely proud of their animation history, and for 25 years they have proven time and again that they are a creator-driven home for artists, with a passion for original, kid-inspired thinking.
Throughout 2016 Nick will celebrate 25 years of Nicktoons, culminating with the opening of the new Nickelodeon Studios in Burbank!
PHASE 1: STORY – Tell us the STORY OF YOUR FAVORITE NICKTOONS and what it means to you (or how it has influenced you) in 500 characters or less. Feel free to upload an image that represents your super fandom.
The winning Story creators will receive $500 each and a 5% one-time residual payment for any winning Videos based on his/her Story. That means if your winning Story is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $750; for the 2nd place Video, you will receive $550; for the 3rd place Video, you will receive $500; and for the 4th place Video, you will receive $350.
Payment for a win in the Story phase is contingent on your completion of the Winner’s Affidavit, the IP Assignment, and any necessary cooperation with the winning filmmaker selected to bring your Story to life in the subsequent Pitch Phase. Being a winner in the Story Phase does not guarantee that your Story will be brought to life by a filmmaker in the following Phases.
PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Stories from the previous Phase using:
The three (3) most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $5,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $7,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $15,000 First Place Video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Story winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 3: VIDEO – The three (3) winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a Video up to 120 seconds based upon their winning Pitch.
All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that can be based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase or a totally original concept that is not based on any winning material from the Idea Phase. The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the 1 highest scoring Wildcard Video along with the 3 winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the three (3) Pitch winners, along with one (1) Wildcard creator, will receive prizes.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $15,000, 2nd place $11,000, 3rd place $10,000, and 4th place $7,000 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winners, as applicable). Payment is contingent on your completion of the Winner Affidavit, IP Release, all necessary releases and third party licenses and compliance with the OFFICIAL RULES
