Westin Hotels wants you to create a 60-second Video that highlights how specific Westin properties are a partner in their guests’ well-being before, during and after the stay…always ensuring they leave feeling better than when they arrived.

If you’re no stranger to traveling, you know it can be both mentally and physically exhausting on your body. Your sleep schedule is thrown for a loop, well-balanced meals are not always an option and your workout regimen is thrown out the window.

Luckily at Westin Hotels, everything is designed with your well-being in mind.. Westin’s holistic approach allows you to customize your stay based on your wellness routines and preferences. You can maintain a healthy lifestyle on the road with their delicious SuperFoodsRx™ dishes, energize in their world-class WestinWORKOUT® fitness studios, and unwind from your travels with Westin’s refreshing amenities like Heavenly Beds, Heavenly Showers, and uplifting spa treatments. If you’ve ever stayed at a Westin, you know that Westin makes it a priority to provide its guests with a high-quality experience that leaves them feeling better than when they arrived!

Plus, their hotels are located right in the heart of everything you’d want or need: Amazing destinations, accessible sights to see – whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure.

It’s time for you to help Westin let the world know that not only are Westin hotel destinations in great locations, but their holistic approach to wellness  allows travelers to maintain their well-being and get the most out of their trip. Carefully read the Objectives Section to find out about your free nights’ stay…

The goal of this project is to create an engaging Video, up to 60 seconds, that will inspire people to choose Westin Hotels for business or leisure travel because of their unique destinations, instinctive service, innovative programs and refreshing design/ambience and establish Westin Hotels as the preeminent wellness brand in hospitality.

Your Video for each hotel should:

  • Be told through the guest’s perspective and seen through a wellness lens (ie: show us an intimate portrait that captures how Westin delivers wellness to their guests at every turn, including visual cues of “wellness” such as water, green space, blue sky, etc…)
  • Showcase the unique wellness amenities provided at each hotel,
  • Highlight the city’s attractions and sites surrounding the hotel,
  • Inspire people to choose Westin for business and leisure travel!

NOTE:  Accommodation for up to 5 people, including talent, will be provided to each Pitch winner for up to 3 days for each shoot. With proof of receipt, Westin will also reimburse associated taxes and fees, resort fees/daily wifi fees, and reasonable expenses of meals, snacks, drinks, and associated F&B takes/tips in accordance with Starwood T&E policy. All other travel costs will be the responsibility of the Pitch winner.

Script Approval: You must receive script approval from Westin before shooting your Video.

This project is going to run a bit differently, so please read the steps below carefully in order to complete the Pitch phase properly. Each Pitch Winner will choose a specific region to pitch against, containing a Westin property along with the corresponding city.

If you nail it on the first Video, there may be an opportunity to produce a subsequent series of Videos that will explore and feature additional Westin properties within the region!

Step 1:  Check out the “Sample Script” and story flow in the Assets Tab to get an example of how you might structure a hotel’s story.

Step 2:  Review the Spreadsheet under the Assets Tab that outlines the hotel location, the city attributes and the wellness amenities unique to each Westin hotel property.

Step 3:  Select from the drop down menu which Region # you would like to Pitch against. The properties in BOLD below are the locations Pitch winners will use for their Videos.

Each Pitch should feature ONE of the properties/regions from the dropdown below. If you’d like to create Videos for more than one property/region, please submit a separate Pitch for each.

Step 4:  In your Pitch, you are required to submit a “Script” for the hotel property. Your script should speak to the highlighted attributes for that city and the wellness amenities unique to that hotel, in that order, in an engaging way.

PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Script (REQUIRED): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in the video.
  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The four (4) most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $8,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $5,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $8,000 First Place video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 2: VIDEO – The four (4) winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 60-second Video based upon their winning Pitch.

The Judges will score four (4) winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the four (4) Pitch winners will receive prizes.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $8,000; 2nd place $7,000; 3rd place $6,000; and 4th place $5,000.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Audioblocks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form.
