Sur la Table
Volvo x Sur la Table Quality, Style, and Sustainability Ideation Project
Concept
07/19/21 - 07/26/21

Create engaging concepts for videos and stills that demonstrate how Volvo's and Sur la Table's shared values of quality and sustainability align.

Cars and cookware may not seem to have a lot in common at first, but when you dig a little deeper you start to see a lot of similarities: performance, high-quality materials, style, and increasingly, the importance of sustainability and an earth-friendly approach. All of these things are key factors that consumers take into account when shopping, whether they're purchasing a new sedan or a nonstick pan.

Quality, style, and a willingness to learn have always been at the core of both Volvo's and Sur la Table's brands. It's become the norm for avid home cooks to seek out organic, locally-grown, high-quality ingredients, and now they're also looking for sustainable and eco-friendly cookware that's healthier for their families and better for the Earth. Similarly, Volvo's commitment to quality has extended into sustainability and the environment, with plans for all of their new vehicles to be fully electric or hybrid by 2025, and fully climate neutral by 2040.

The goal of this project is to develop concepts for videos and/or still images that speak to the values that both Volvo and Sur la Table customers share, and show how quality and sustainability go hand-in-hand with Volvo. Consider Volvo's electric and hybrid vehicles - and the positive benefits that come with both types of vehicles - and show they directly correlate to the things eco-conscious home cooks care about in their daily lives. High-quality, future-based values should comprise the core of your concepts.

EXPOSURE: Digital video and still images

TARGET AUDIENCE: Passionate home cooks, parents, the consummate host and the farmers market regular; electric vehicle enthusiasts or those curious about electric vehicles, those concerned about sustainability, and the impact vehicles – and vehicle production – has on the environment. Higher than average household income and higher education are common in customers of both Volvo and Sur la Table.

TONE: Honest, warm, conversational; an appreciation of high quality materials and good design balanced with a conscious mindset; focus on wellness, connection, and family across both brands, and honoring heritage while looking to the future with an emphasis on willingness to learn. Approachable, enthusiastic, straightforward.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Your concepts should show how Volvo's electric vehicles, commitment to a climate neutral future, long-standing safety standards, comfort, and space all align with Sur la Table customer values.
  • Your concepts should primarily be for and about Volvo, but should include elements that align with cooking, ingredients, cookware, and a love of all things culinary and entertaining.
  • Sustainability, electric vehicles, and future-based values should comprise the core of your concepts.

NOTE: We're testing a new feature on this project. In addition to the three concepts the Sponsor will be selecting, five additional submissions will be selected for Honorable Mention, and each will receive $50 for the great creative work that went into them. Submissions selected for Honorable Mention will not be used by the Sponsor, and not all submissions identified as Finalists will receive an Honorable Mention.

Sur la Table believes that connections are made through cooking and that the process is part of the joy. Homemade meals are the ultimate gesture of love and appreciation, and the rituals of cooking, serving, entertaining, and eating together unite us and provide a doorway to conversation and a pathway to nourishment.

Sur la Table encourages everyone to make more and gather often; whether you're making memories, leftovers, messes, time together, mistakes, discoveries, or simply happiness, the invitation to cook and to gather is open to all.

Tell us your Concept using up to 250 characters. Remember, a concept is not a detailed script - it is a spark of inspiration or distillation of what will happen in the final output. As always, concepts should be clever and engaging.

Concept submissions will be selected and receive $250 each. Five additional concept submissions will be selected for Honorable Mention, and will receive $50 each. Submissions selected for Honorable Mention will not be used by the client, and not all submissions identified as Finalists will receive an Honorable Mention.

Should your concept be selected, you must complete the Winner Affidavit and IP Assignment forms in order to receive payment. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification when a selection has been announced. To ensure that you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven't unsubscribed.
