Create a Series of reaction videos featuring people experiencing the weird wonderfulness that is My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream for the first time.

My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is a revolution in snacking. Available in 7 mesmerizing flavors, My/Mo’s soft sticky rice dough is filled with just the right amount of premium ice cream, leaving you not reaching for one, but for an entire box, morning, noon and night. And as colorful as the snack, the brand is just as vibrant, fully embracing the quirky and playful side to life – they’re all about bringing play back to snack time. Go ahead, tempt yourself and get a taste of who they are here.

To help raise awareness on this delectable snack, and get people to try it for themselves,  My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is looking to create a series of 5 reaction videos featuring different people trying My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream for the first time. We want to capture authentic and entertaining on-screen moments of people taking their very first bites of My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream, and solicit their authentic responses.

While these should feel reminiscent of the popular reaction video format on YouTube (Grandparents listen to trap music for the first time, anyone???), in which people try new foods, products, and lifestyle services for the first time, we want you to use your imagination to think about how you could make this uniquely My/Mo (read: quirky, playful, and fun).

Here’s what you need to know:

  • This is an open bid project, so you’ll get to set your overall budget proposal. Please download the budget template from the Asset tab below and explicitly state how much you need per Video. The Sponsor is looking for a cost maximum per Video of $5,000.
  • Your Pitch should highlight the demographics you intend to feature in each Video – i.e., Grandmas try MyMo Mochi Ice Cream, Models try MyMo Mochi Ice Cream for the first time, etc.
  • Your Pitch should clearly outline your approach to all 5 Videos as well as 15-second “teaser” per Video.
  • Your budget proposal is subject to approval and negotiation if your Pitch is selected. Once the budget is approved, a payment schedule will be put in place.
  • Based on the Pitches received, we may be selecting and green-lighting more than one Pitch winner to execute the content proposed.

Check out more important details on the project below!

The goal of this project is to create a series of 5 :60-:90-second Videos that draw on the quirky and colorful character of My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream and introduces it to different people in surprising, funny, or entertaining ways. Your 5 :60-:90-second Videos should each be accompanied by a 15-second teaser that compels viewers to check out the long form, and you should deliver 5 Still Photos per Video along with a 2D endcard.

Your Videos can be a weird, creative, or unusual spin on the ‘trying for the first time’ format, but should capture the colorful and fun nature of the My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream product and brand. This long form video will be distributed through Facebook, YouTube, while the 15-second Videos will be distributed through Instagram, and therefore consider grabbing a viewer’s attention within the first 3 seconds or what might the experience might read as with the sound off. You’ll ultimately want to create an entertaining and shareable story, but first you need to inspire people early on it is worth watching. Keep in mind, the 15-second Videos will be distributed on Instagram and should be thought of as teasers to drive to the long form Videos. For more information on social best practices, take a look at the document in Assets tab.

For some inspiration, please check out some of these examples of other people trying things for the first time. While your Pitch should be unique and on-brand for My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream, these are examples of executions that successfully communicate fun and entertaining experiences:

NOTE: This project does include a Pre-Production Phase. You will be required to submit and receive approval on a script and headshots. See the Details section below for further information. If you’re selected as a Pitch Winner, a Tongal producer will email you to help walk you through the Pre-Production.

Deliverables Due:

  • 5 Videos, :60-:90-seconds in length optimized for Facebook and YouTube
  • 5 :15-second teasers, driving to the long form Videos, optimized for Instagram
  • 5 Still Images Per Video
  • 1, 2D Endcard Per Video

Executional Mandatories:

  • DO NOT refer to the product as a “treat,” “sweet,” or a “dessert.”
  • This should be gender neutral – we want to this to feel inclusive to both male and females.
  • The brand and product should be referred to as "My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream" or if abbreviated "My/Mo" it should never be referred to as "mochi.”

  • Vibrant, edgy, daring, fun, and exciting.

Target Audience:

  • “Coastally minded” millennials 18-34 who are smart, independent, interested in a global mindset and love living a fun life!

Product: Will be provided by the brand.

This Project will consist of 4 Phases: a Pitch Phase, a Pre-Production Phase, a Video Phase, and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in each Video.
  • Budget (REQUIRED): Please complete the Budget Template in the Assets tab. Your budget proposal should outline your budget per Video, 5 total. You budget should not exceed $5,000 per Video.
  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit, the IP Assignment will receive production budget to help create the Videos. A Tongal producer will discuss payment schedule will be discussed prior to beginning production. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until the project is complete.

PHASE 2: PRE-PRODUCTION – The Pitch winners will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will need to receive the following Approvals from the brand:

  • HEADSHOT – This project requires Headshot Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit headshots of every person you intend to cast in each Video. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options.
  • SCRIPT - This project requires Script Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit a full script with any action, on-screen text, dialogue, and voice over that will be included in your Video. The brand may provide feedback on your Script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a Script is approved by the brand.

No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense) so please don’t jump the gun.

If you’re selected as a Pitch Winner, a Tongal producer will email you to help walk you through the Pre-Production and Approvals process.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Pitch Winners will each move into production based on their winning Pitches.

NOTE: The 5 :60-:90-second Videos, the 15-second teasers, and 5 still images per Video are all due at the close of the Video phase. Please upload each asset as a separate submission.

PHASE 4: REVISIONS - Once the Video Phase has closed, the winning submitters will enter the Revisions Phase (What is a Revisions Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their Videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback.
