We're looking for a kickass producer/creative/YouTube genius to help us build out Tongal's YouTube Channel with engaging creator content sourced from the Tongal community.

Project Update:

Thank you for your patience. We are planning to announce by next Monday.

Have you ever wanted to peek behind the curtain, use the Tongal platform, tap into our community, and bring cool videos to life?

Now is your chance!

We are looking to find someone to oversee the creation of video content for Tongal's YouTube channel by using the Tongal platform to hire and manage creatives around the world. You'd have the ability to greenlight and produce almost anything you want, as long as it's engaging (and fun), and it brings more and more viewers to the channel. Think of this as a blend of creative development, channel management, and network programming. The goal is to grow our YouTube channel from around 30K subscribers to over 100K with MUST WATCH video content made by Tongal community members.

Interested? There's some more creative guidance and context in the Background, but here's some additional information about the role:

  • This is NOT about being the filmmaker yourself, so it's not a traditional "producer" role, and you won't be on set. You will select, develop, and manage productions virtually via the Tongal platform, hiring the filmmakers, talent, etc. all through the Tongal site. Like we said above, it's part creative, part channel management, part network programming.

  • You will be responsible for writing creative briefs (like this page), reviewing pitches & videos, and managing filmmakers through pre-production, production, post-production, and delivery, so get ready to hone your writing and creative review skills.

  • You are not required to have YouTube channel management experience, (although it's a plus!), and if you have any search engine optimization (SEO) experience, that's really valuable too.

  • This is not a full-time position. This will start as a 3 month contract on or around December 2nd, and like any other Tongal projects, you will be paid hourly on a project-by-project basis.

Check out more below about the creative opportunities.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CONTENT:

  • When we say "anything," we really do mean we're open to any kind of content, as long as it's fun and it furthers that goal of engaging viewers and driving subscribership. To further the objective, it's *probably* a blend of education and entertainment, but in terms of format, you can think about live-action, animation, stop motion, motion graphics, puppets. Videos could be as simple as vlogs, or motion graphic explainers, tips & tricks, interviews, filmmaker profiles, relevant product reviews, BTS highlights, video breakdowns for existing projects - or even original fictional content. If you can make a fair use case for referencing existing brands or IP in a documentary format, we're on board.

  • What's the intended audience? We'd lean towards other creatives; filmmakers, editors, animators, writers, ideators, cinematographers, and anyone with aspirations of jumping into content creation.

  • What's the budget range? It depends on the type of content,  but on average, you probably want to keep each video in the range $250-$3000. It's about value, more than budget. If a filmmaker comes in with a really compelling pitch and you can make a case for how that's likely to draw a lot of viewers, then we've got more flex.

  • What's the video length? Most videos should probably fall in the 2-5 minute range, but longer videos that run over 10 minutes, or even lengthy live-streams or interviews, are fine too. Just think: can we engage the audience for the duration of this video?

  • How many videos? Your initial contract is 3 months, so it depends on how many compelling video pitches you can source, greenlight, and produce in that period. The first project you launch may end up with a single greenlit video, a series of videos, or multiple different videos. We're not looking for a set number; it's about quality.

  • Can we use footage from existing Tongal videos? Sure, as long as the video's already public. It could be an interesting opportunity for a lower-budget editing project.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:

  1. If you're ultimately selected, you'd write a creative brief (like what you see on this page) asking for filmmakers and producers to pitch their ideas for video content (either individual videos, or series) that we could produce for Tongal's YouTube. Our team would help you get that brief up and launched on Tongal.com.
  2. Once the Pitches are received, you'll be responsible for reviewing them, and presenting your top selections - with some reasoning on why each could work - for Tongal to sign-off.
  3. We may select one Pitch, or multiple  pitches, and once they're selected, you'll on-board each filmmaker and take them through a limited pre-production process. What that process looks like ultimately depends on what they're pitching, and how heavy a hand you want to have in guiding the creative. You'll be able to use Tongal.com's Pre-Production platform for this.
  4. Once the videos are greenlit, you'll then take point on post-production review and any creative notes. You'll be able to use the Tongal site for that too.
  5. When the video's delivered, we'll QC, and you'll strategize with our team on when to post.

In order to be considered for this position, you must include the below materials in your submission.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): In 500 characters or less tell us why we should select YOU to be Tongal's YouTube Network lead, tell us about your skillsets, and how you would help grow our YouTube channel.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your website or previous work. Please specify your role.

  • PITCH VIDEO (REQUIRED): This is your opportunity to be face-to-face with Tongal and tell us why we should select you to help us grow our YouTube subscriber base.
