Tongal TikTok Takeover: Original Content Producer
Pitch
03/07/22 - 04/12/22

Tongal is looking for a forward-thinking creator and TikTok genius to help build out and oversee Tongal's TikTok channel. If you're interested, you'll source original videos from other creators in the Tongal community, and produce a few videos of your own along the way.

Are you a TikTok fiend? Do you know all the latest trends and influencers? Would you call yourself a TikTok-ready personality? Well, if you said yes to all that, and you're interested in bringing some of your own ideas to life - while leading a unique team of creatives - this is your chance to run wild on TikTok.

We are looking for a creator to launch and oversee Tongal's new TikTok channel, using the Tongal platform to hire and manage creators from around the world, and also producing some original video content directly. You'll have the ability to greenlight and produce almost anything you want, as long as it comes with the delightful cleverness that marks great TikTok content. We want engaging, fun, original videos that help bring followers to the channel, and you can think of this as a blend of creative development, channel management, and network programming. You'll work closely with Tongal's own Community Team, and work alongside the other creators in the Tongal community that similarly manage Tongal's YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

You are are required to have TikTok content creation experience. We don't need to see mega viral hits, but what you've created before should have some impact and reach, and it should show that you have a clear understanding of good TikTok creative. That understanding is important because you'll take lead in selecting, developing, and managing TikTok content virtually via the Tongal platform; hiring the creators, the talent, etc. It's also important because we'd still like you to create some content yourself (and yes, you can be the star of that content!). When it comes to using Tongal to source content, you will need to write creative briefs (like this page), review pitches & videos, and manage filmmakers - through pre-production, production, post-production, and delivery. With that in mind, you should be ready to hone your writing and creative review skills.

Note: This is not a full-time position or an employee position with Tongal. You will be paid a flat fee for your work on this project over the course of three months.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:

  • Phase 1: If you're selected, you'll work with Tongal to put together a strategy that encompasses content creation, content research & sourcing, and a release schedule for TikTok content that you'll create and test yourself. This will take place roughly over 3 weeks.
  • Phase 2: After the strategy has been created, you'll move on to Phase 2, which will involve you creating content for Tongal's TikTok 2 to 3 times a week for a period of three weeks. You'll be tracking engagement and analytics on the content you create during this time. You will also begin to write a creative brief (like what you see on this page) asking for future TikTok content from filmmakers and producers to pitch their ideas for video content (either individual videos, or series) that we can produce for Tongal's TikTok. Our team will help you get that brief up and launched on Tongal. Content creation and testing will take place over a 3 week window. You'll start work on the brief starting during week 2 of this Phase.
  • Phase 3: Once your brief is final and launched, you'll start to receive pitches; you'll be responsible for reviewing them, and presenting your top selections - with some reasoning on why each could work - for Tongal to sign-off. We may select one Pitch, or multiple pitches, and once they're selected, you'll on-board each filmmaker and take them through a limited pre-production process, with Tongal Team support, during this phase as well. What that process looks like ultimately depends on what the creators are pitching. You'll be able to use Tongal's Pre-Production platform for this. Once the videos are greenlit, you'll then take point on production and post-production review and any creative notes. You'll be able to use the Tongal site for that, too. When the video's delivered, we'll QC, and you'll strategize with our team on when to post, if not already decided. The Phase 3 process will run for roughly 4 weeks.

VIDEO BREAKDOWN: Obviously, everything needs to be 9x16 and formatted with TikTok's safezones in mind, but otherwise most videos should fall in the 9 to 15 second range, but for the right format, you can create content that runs between 30 and 60 seconds. Just think: can we engage the audience for the duration of this video?

TARGET AUDIENCE: Other creatives; filmmakers, editors, animators, writers, ideators, cinematographers, and anyone with aspirations of jumping into content creation.

OPEN BID:

  • This is an open bid project, so you will get to set your own budget up to $5,000. We're always interested in seeing tiered pricing options, so please feel free to submit various versions of your pitch at budget, target, and reach price points within that price range.
  • As a Tongal-sponsored project, we're very excited to see the pitches that come back from our community. Though our goal is to greenlight a designer, we have structured this project as an Open Bid in case we do not find a suitable submission for this initiative.  Regardless of the result, all Open Bid submissions will be carefully reviewed and considered by our team.
