ORIGINAL OBJECTIVE BELOW:

The goal of this project is to produce an exciting, creative and shareable 15 second Video that shows how Vaseline Spray Moisturizer is easy to apply and quick to absorb!

Your Video should be relatable to busy women, ages 25-45, and engage them within the first few seconds of watching – so they don’t click to skip. AND when it’s finished, make them want to rush out to try & buy Vaseline Spray Moisturizer.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Your Video should play well in the U.S., but also appeal to a GLOBAL audience. Here are a few markets where your Video could live: U.S., U.K., Australia, S. Africa, etc. So try not to make your Video feel too U.S. centric or specific to an American trend or cultural reference that doesn't travel. Also, consider talent with a "Global / European look."
  • Because these Videos are going to be posted online in May 2015 through Spring & Summer, your content should be able to play when women are getting sundress ready for beach season and all year round (even though you may be shooting this in the middle of Winter).

Your 15 second Video MUST:

  • Show a woman applying Vaseline Spray Moisturizer to her body with ease and/or trying out the product for the first time.
  • Creatively demonstrate the speed of absorption.

Here are some Thought-Starters below:

  • Take a more Madlibs approach. How would you finish this sentence? Start healing your dry skin in the time it takes to _______________." Fill in the blank! And remember to show, don't tell.
  • Your Speed Test and/or Madlibs fun can be creative BUT they should also be relatable to women 25-45 and their morning beauty routine (bathroom and bedroom beauty / personal care preparation) as the Sponsor doesn’t want content around topics like “How to make a sandwich in 15 seconds.”
  • So, give us something wholly original and creative, that you would want to share with your FB friends… while speaking to the product benefits (easy to apply, quick to absorb), of course.

--Key Marketing Messages:

  • Start healing your dry skin in the time it takes to…
  • The Healing Power of Vaseline in Seconds.

--Target Audience: Women, ages 25-45. She’s a light body lotion user who believes in substantive skin care that delivers real results. But she is very busy and cannot seem to find the time to use lotion, so she ends up skipping it to get on with her day.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • Your Video must show a woman applying Vaseline Spray Moisturizer to her body with ease and/or trying out the product for the first time.
  • Your Video should feature the new Vaseline Spray Moistuizer Essential Healing (YELLOW CAN). Available in stores next year.
  • Sponsor may provide and end bumper with this tagline: “The Healing Power of Vaseline in Seconds.”

--Tone: Fun, Inspiring, Shareable. "Healing yet appealing" - not too clinical, but still positioned as experts.

Tone of Voice – Balance of facts and feelings.

o   Fact: We are the authority on skin healing and have been doing it for 140 years.  We want to leverage this knowledge to show we are experts:

o   Feelings: But we don’t want to become cold. We still want to help real people who need real advice. We want to show empathy and consideration.

--Exposure:  Intended for use on Vaseline social and digital channels, mainly Facebook and Instagram.

--Product:  Be sure to hero the Vaseline Spray Moisturizer, Essential Healing (yellow can). Because it won’t be in market until April 2015, the Sponsor will make product samples available to Pitch winners and Wildcard creators on a first-come first-serve basis.

--Brand Personality:  Knowledgeable, Committed, Genuine.

This Project will be worth a total of $40,000 and consists of 3 Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA  – Tell us your Idea for a shareable Vaseline Spray Moisturizer Video in 140 characters or less.  Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video.  As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging.  The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each and a 5% one-time residual payment for any winning Videos based on their Idea. That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $575 the 2nd place Video $350, the 3rd place Video $250, the 4th place Video $250, the 5th place Video $150, the 6th Place Video $150 – see Video Phase Payout details for more information.

PHASE 2: PITCH – Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.

  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • Treatment (Optional): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video.

  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.

  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The FOUR most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $1,000 to help create the Video.  Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $3,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $11,500 First Place video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The FOUR winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 15 second Video based upon their winning Pitch. Plus upload a SOCIAL PACK.

All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that can be based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase or a totally original concept that is not based on any winning material from the Idea Phase.  The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the TWO highest scoring Wildcard Video along with the FOUR winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, the FOUR Pitch winners, along with TWO Wildcard creators, will receive prizes.

NOTE: The 15 second video and SOCIAL PACK are all due at the close of the Video Phase. Please upload them as separate video files when submitting your Videos.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $11,500 and 2nd place $7,000, 3rd place $5,000, 4th place $5,000, 5th place $3,000 and 6th place $3,000 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winners, as applicable).

--Music:  Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from either of the two providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

That’s a potential $1,650 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
