Create an awesome slow-motion 15-second Video with the power of the Sony RX100 IV camera and its ability to shoot at 960fps.
Take a moment, fellow filmmakers, and think of the single coolest thing you’ve ever shot. And then, slow it down. Imagine it in 960fps, where the half-second before a diver slips into the water becomes a 15-second aerial ballet of summersaults and spins. Take a moment and visualize the ripples and the splash, or the shattering of a glass, or the slow death of every flickering ember of a firework blast. Slow motion is awesome. Undeniable. And you can have it yourself, with a point-and-shoot camera that fits in your pocket.
Sony is the leader in high-end point-and-shoot cameras, and their newest model, the RX100 IV, makes no compromises – it captures video in up to 40x super slow motion, with a super-high-speed 1/32000 sec. anti-distortion shutter, and it also captures 4k movies. The list of features is truly impressive, but let’s not get distracted; this is about the slow-motion. Sony wants you, Tongalers, to showcase this awesome capability in a creative, fun and engaging way.
Since everything is cooler in slow motion, this could mean almost anything – athletic triumphs, huge laughs, epic dances, killer pranks, ethereal moments, you name it. Be imaginative and visual, and show us Sony’s promise that you can “Capture more than meets the eye.” We want you to amaze consumers and inspire them with ideas of how they can use this themselves.
And YES! You’ll be able to use the RX100 IV to do this.
The goal of this project is to create a slow-motion 15-second Video that showcases the power of the Sony RX100 IV camera and it’s ability to shoot at 960fps, even with its compact body. The Video should leave the audience wowed, and wanting to capture their big moments in slow motion using this camera.
--Key Marketing Messages:
--Executional Mandatories:
--Target Audience: They want to target a mass audience to bring awareness, but historically their audience has leaned towards photo enthusiasts, male and female.
--Tone: Given the wide variety of incredible slow-motion subjects, they are open and flexible on the tone, but whether it’s comedy, action, or romance, it should be engaging and make people feel like they HAVE to see it.
--Exposure: The Videos are intended for use on Sony’s social channels, including YouTube, and as a digital web banner.
--Product: The Sony RX100 IV will be provided to the Pitch Winners and to select Wildcard filmmakers on a first-come, first-serve basis.
--Note: Sony will also provide a branded bumper that they use on all Videos.
This Project will be worth a total of $24,000, and both the Pitch-Winners and winning Wildcard filmmaker will receive their own Sony RX100 IV Camera as an additional prize. The project consists of 2 Phases: a Pitch Phase, and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Sony Super Speed Video using:
The two (2) most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $2,000 to help create a Video, and will be loaned a Sony RX100 IV Camera to shoot it. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $5,000, at a minimum, along with a Sony RX100 IV Camera, and have a chance to compete for the $9,000 First Place Video. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 2: VIDEO – The two (2) Winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 15-second Video based upon their winning Pitch.
All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that can be based on a totally original concept that is not based on any winning material from the Pitch Phase. A limited number of Sony RX100 IV Cameras will be available to loan to Wildcard filmmakers on a first-come, first serve basis. The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the highest scoring Wildcard Video, along with the two winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners, will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the two Pitch winners, along with Wildcard creator, will receive prizes.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $9,000; 2nd place $6,000; 3rd place $5,000, and each Winner will receive a Sony RX100 IV Camera.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers: Audioblocks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form.
