Create a fun and clever 30-60 second Pilot (and corresponding 15 second cutdown and 7 still images) based on a winning Ideas from the previous Sine Metu project. Videos should embrace the spirit of Jameson’s family motto and show what happens when you’re unafraid of embracing new experiences and people.

For over 230 years, the Jameson family’s motto has been “Sine Metu” – Latin for “Without Fear.” It’s a motto they take seriously and, even today, every bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey bears that inscription on its label.

A little while back, Jameson asked Tongalers what Sine Metu means in their lives. Well, Jameson liked what they heard and now they’re back for more. Jameson’s looking for an entertaining Video based on one these winning Ideas from the Sine Metu Ideation project:

Share a Bottle - Everyone who orders a Jameson at a busy bar gets told "The only bottle is at that table". They have to choose whether they go up to the table to ask for some or not.

Elevator Awkwardness - Elevators don't have to be silent, awkward places, instead they can be a chance to step out of your comfort zone & interact with new people.

Noodle on those and check out the previous project for some context. Then tell us how you’d bring one of the above Ideas to life in a witty and exciting Pilot that embraces the Jameson family motto. And check this out - if your Pilot wins first place, you'll be asked to create three additional Sine Metu videos – for $50,000! Check the objectives section to find out more.

The goal of this project is to create a fun and clever 30-60 second Pilot (and corresponding 15 second cutdown and 7 still images) based on a winning Idea from the previous Sine Metu project to be the basis for a Series (3 addtional videos). Videos should embrace the spirit of Jameson’s motto and show what happens when you’re unafraid of embracing new experiences and people. Please take a look at the previous project brief to get a better idea of the tone Jameson is looking for.

NOTE: The 30-60 second video and 15 second cut-down and 7 still images are all due at the close of the Pilot Phase.  Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

Note to Pitch Submitters: The 1st place Pilot Phase winner will be asked to create a Series of three additional 30-60 second Videos (and corresponding 15 second cutdowns and 7 still images) for an additional $50,000. By pitching on this project, you are agreeing to comply with the Series Delivery Timeline if you are selected as the 1st Place Pilot Winner:

Series Phase: September 7 - October 2

Once the Series Winner is chosen, Jameson will provide them with the Ideas for the reamaining three Videos.

Casting, Location and Script Approval: Jameson will have casting, location and script approval. Pitch Winners will be required to send Jameson casting selects, location options and a script for review before filming. While not required, pitch submitters are strongly encouraged to include casting/location/script in their pitch.

AGE REQUIREMENT: You must be at least twenty-one (21) years or older to enter.

--Target Audience: Men, ages 25-34, who are easy-going, fun loving, unpretentious and focused. They display a passion for life – physically, emotionally and socially. They are influenced by hipster and niche culture, taking style cues from here. They consume the majority of their media online and favour the real-time nature of social media feeds. They download films and stream TV shows, and enjoy hanging out at home with friends.

Other details about this type of "lad":

- Socialising is a priority in their lives, particularly with beers and whiskey in a local bar or at home.

- Sport is central to their world, whether playing, watching or as a way of socialising.

- Food consumption is fast and fun, as opposed to gourmet and studious

--Executional Mandatories:

  • “Without Fear” should not be misconstrued as being rash, reckless or rebellious.
  • Avoid showing/mentioning around the following:
    • Alcoholism
    • Drug Usage
    • Extreme Sports
    • Driving
    • Intoxication
    • Aggressive Consumption (downing a drink)
    • Violence
    • Political/Religious messaging
  • Jameson is an Irish whiskey but please don’t focus your Video on Ireland or Irishness. It’s great to embrace the “gift of the gab” but leave the shamrocks on the cutting room floor.
  • Avoid slapstick humor. We are looking for clever and subtle wit.

--Tone: Confident, subtle, witty, friendly and authentic. NOT arrogant, flippant, judgmental or exclusive.

--Exposure: Social video sharing platforms (YouTube, Facebook, etc.). Hulu and online advertising.

This Project will be worth a total of $100,000 and consists of three Phases: a Pitch Phase, a Pilot Phase and a Series Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.

  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • Treatment (Optional): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video.

  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.

  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Required): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.

  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The two most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $10,000 to help create the Video.  Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $10,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $20,000 First Place video prize and be ordered to Series for an additional $50,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 2: PILOT – The two winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 30-60 second Video (and corresponding 15 second cutdown and 7 still images) based upon their winning Pitch.

NOTE: The 30-60 second video and 15 second cut-down and 7 still images are all due at the close of the Video Phase.  Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

The Judges will score the two winning Pilots submitted by Pitch winners to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, both Pitch winners will receive prizes.

--End Card: A brand approved End Card will be supplied to the two Pitch winners for use in their Pilot.

--Pilot Phase Payout: Winners of the Pilot Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $20,000 and 2nd place $10,000.
