Simple® Kind to City Skin Live Event Video Project
|
The best part of a big reveal is the participants’ reactions. Whether it’s an extreme home renovation, a drastic haircut, or a new product demo, no one can resist watching as the curtain is pulled back and the truth unveiled.
Throughout advertising history, big reveals have been used to communicate otherwise unknown product benefits in fun and memorable ways. Think about Febreze’s recent campaign for their Stick and Refresh Strips, you know the ones where blindfolded people say they smell flowers and fresh laundry when they are in front of a heap of trash? By capturing honest reactions from everyday people, not actors, they are able to communicate the advantages of their product and show others how they too can be surprised and delighted.
Simple® Skincare is doing the same for skin! Through a multi-city tour, they are hitting the road with their sensitive skin message to educate women about city-specific triggers that can cause skin irritation. Simple® wants to capture the emotions and reactions of women in NYC, Boston, Dallas, and San Francisco who are hearing the truth about their skin’s environment for the first time. The brand would love to capture women who are truly surprised, with camera-ready reactions. Then, when Simple® provides these city ladies with the information, products, and tools to help their skin thrive, they will be delighted.
Simple® is looking for one filmmaker in each of the following cities to document their “Kind to City Skin” events and capture the genuine reactions that women have when they discover how the city where they live affects their skin: NYC (May 12), Boston (May 17), Dallas (June 21) and San Francisco (June 28). Videos should feature the various stations and product demonstrations at each event and attendees interacting with skin experts. To align with the brand’s aesthetic and tone, the videos should be beautiful, organic and authentic (not glammy), that perfect nexus where your camera skills can make all the difference.
--Key Marketing Messages: All skin can be sensitive, that’s why Simple® is kind to your skin.
--Target Audience: Women 18-34 who live in cities, big and small.
--Executional Mandatories: Do not show competing skincare products. Do not show skin-related medical conditions such as emphysema, psoriasis etc; when using the logo always use the full logo with that reads Simple® Sensitive Skin Experts.
--Tone: Educational and friendly. Simple® is the authority on sensitive skin care.
--Exposure: Digital platforms.
--Product: Product will be supplied at the events.
PLEASE NOTE: Each Video will be due two weeks after the event date. The NY Video is due May 27. The Boston Video is due June 2. The Dallas Video is due July 7. The San Francisco Video is due July 14.
This Project will be worth a total of $70,000 and consists of two Phases: a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video in one of the 4 cities, bringing the Kind to City Skin event to life.
The 4 most compelling Pitches will be selected, one per each city, and upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $5,000 to help create the Video and cutdowns. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $10,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $20,000 First Place video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 2: VIDEO – The 4 winners from the Pitch Phase, one per each city, will each create 3 Videos: a 90-second, a 30-second, and a 15-second. The 90-second Video will cover the whole event based upon their winning Pitch, and will include a variety of subjects. The 30-second and 15-second Videos will each feature a different subject from the event, as in one subject for the 30-second and another subject for the 15-second. These subjects may have also been seen in the 90-second Video. Also required for submission are still images from the event, and gifs of the different event participants’ reactions. The Judges will score the 4 winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the 4 Pitch winners will receive prizes.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $20,000, 2nd place $10,000, 3rd place $10,000, and 4th place $10,000.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with four premiere music providers: Audiosocket, Killer Tracks, Epidemic Sound and Music Dealers. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from any of the four providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.
If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.
--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential $2,000 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
