Create a suite of three 12-second videos that show how Red Vines is the perfect companion candy for millennials.

There are so many moments, so many happy events, where Red Vines are absolutely clutch. Bonfire at the beach? Jam session? Video game tournament? Binge watching marathon? Any moment is taken to another level with Red Vines! They call it a companion candy and its been a faithful classic for over 50 years, perfect for those carefree, fun times when you’re with your closest friends and family, and simply want to indulge in the moment.

Now Red Vines wants you to create videos that feature fun and happy moments geared toward millennials that show Red Vines is the perfect companion candy. Please read the remainder of the brief for all of the important details.

The goal of this project is to create a suite of three 12-second videos (a 3-second animated bumper will be provided) that show how Red Vines is the perfect companion candy for millennials. The videos should feel modern while also staying true to Red Vines’ timeless, classic, and nostalgic roots that’s best enjoyed with friends and family.  They should be authentic, playful, happy, energetic, yet with a classic, timeless appeal. However, don’t feel limited to just conventional live action videos. They are also open to animation and videos that capture moments in interesting and unconventional ways.

PLEASE NOTE that each filmmaker must produce three (3) distinct 12-second videos based on the winning Ideas, therefore Pitches must outline concepts for THREE videos. Keep in mind the three Videos should all be different, NOT versions of the same story.

--Key Marketing Messages:

  • “Live on the Sweet Side with Red Vines,” which is their registered trademark.
  • Red Vines embody the West Coast lifestyle and celebrate life’s sweet moments.
  • Even though Red Vines is retro and nostalgic, they transcend generations and are a brand for me here and now.

--Target Audience: Millennials; males and females aged 15-24. Hip, all-American kids. Their audience is tech savvy, but also loves retro cool.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • Red Vines would like to showcase each of the 4 package types (5oz, 10oz, 1lb, 4lb) in their videos, but not necessarily all in one video. They’d like:

o   Two (2) ads featuring 5oz original Red Tray

o   Two (2) ads featuring 4lb Original Red Jar

o   One (1) ad featuring 10oz Twistettes Bag,

o   One (1) ad featuring 1lb. Original Red Laydown bag.

  • Full Color ads only; no black & white.

--Tone:

  • Authentic, playful, happy, energetic, and fun, yet with a classic, timeless appeal.
  • Should avoid cheesiness, bad language, gross humor, rude behavior, sexual references, or shots of people gorging themselves on candy.

--Exposure: The videos are intended for use on Red Vines’ social channels and digital paid media.

Bumper: Red Vines will provide a 3-second animated bumper to the Pitch winners.

Product: A variety of Red Vines will be provided to the Pitch Winners for their videos.

This Project will be worth a total of $35,000 and consists of 3 Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA  – Tell us your Idea for a Red Vines Short Video in 140 characters or less.  Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video.  As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging.  The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute each Video.

  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video.

  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.

  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.

  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The two (2) most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $5,000 to help create a suite of three (3) Videos.  Additionally, upon submitting Videos that satisfy the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $10,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $13,500 First Place video prize. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The two (2) winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a suite of three (3) 12-second Videos based upon their winning Pitch. The Judges will score the two (2) suites of three (3) winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, the 2 Pitch winners will receive prizes.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $13,500 and 2nd place $10,000.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers for this project: Audioblocks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won, up to $500 per place. That’s a potential $1,000 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
