Quick Hits: UV Mapping and Texture Artists Project
Pitch
02/17/23 - 02/24/23

In this Quick Hits project, we are looking for UV mapping and texture artists who work in Maya, and potentially also Unreal, to do work on a significant and ongoing LEGO video production.

In this Quick Hits project, we are looking for UV mapping and texture artists for a significant and ongoing LEGO video that is currently in production. The tasks we need help with largely involve sorting out UV udims, and selecting texture colors for assets that are already built. However, it is time consuming and detailed oriented work, so we're looking for a team of three or four individuals with a high proficiency in Maya, and possibly even Unreal. As of now, we're anticipating this work will take place on a weekly basis for at least a month or two.

This is a hit-the-ground-running sort of project that will move on an expedited timeline. If you think you and/or your team might be a good fit for this process, please include a treatment in your pitch that details your experience, your process, and how you will be able to handle the fast-paced environment. You can also share links of videos that feature sets where you've done this type of work in the past if you think it is relevant.

If you or your team are selected, budget will be discussed with Tongal producers once your team's capabilities and available bandwidth is established. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: TBD based on artist's bandwidth and capabilities.

TIMELINE:

  • Pitch phase: 2/17 - 2/24
  • Winner(s) announced: 2/27
  • Kickoff call with Tongal producers: 2/28
  • Producers will assign sets and timeline for Artist(s): 3/01

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Artsts MUST be highly proficient in Maya, and should have a working understanding of Unreal.

If greenlit, individuals or teams will be NDA'ed, and the project will be discussed in further detail.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed out in the Deliverables.

  • TREATMENT (REQUIRED): A more detailed and specific description of how you propose to execute all of the content listed out in the Deliverables, both in terms of what we can expect to see, and how you’ll make it. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template, which you can find here.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.
