Create stop-motion (claymation) original mini-movies with Play-Doh Town to increase awareness for this new play experience of the Play-Doh brand.
***PITCH PHASE SUBMISSIONS must be based on ALL three Scripts. Each Script will be one of the Video deliverables, so please make sure to read the Sponsor feedback for each Script***
***SCRIPT Winners, you may be asked to collaborate with the Pitch Winner to finesse the Script into its finalize state. ***
Calling all claymation animators, this project is for you!
The Play-Doh brand has been sparking creativity for years. With its imaginative and open-ended play experiences, kids and adults have been able to explore what’s possible, creating their own worlds and characters.
Hasbro, maker of Play-Doh compound, is thrilled to introduce a new opportunity for narrative story telling. Play-Doh Town is where anything you can imagine is possible! A new product collection will feature a town center, firehouse, pet store and more. The new assortment gives kids the opportunity to build up different parts of Play-Doh Town and create a world filled with unexpected stories and adventures!
To inspire imagination and creativity, Hasbro wants to give YOU the opportunity to share the exciting, funny and unexpected narratives that take place within the city limits of Play-Doh Town, told only with Play-Doh compound! All locations and characters will be sculpted- no physical products will be featured.
The 3 video series of stop motion Videos should explore what’s possible in a day in the life of the wacky-fun townspeople of Play-Doh Town, and inspire kids to make up their own wacky stories with Play-Doh products.
Please read below for more information:
Create three (3) 120-second stop-motion Videos with 15-second cut-downs and five (5) still images (per video) that tell original stories taking place within Play-Doh Town in order to increase awareness for this new play experience of the Play-Doh brand.
When building your Pitch, keep in mind that the everything must be made out of Play-Doh compound, from figures to playsets. The stories should have a predominant focus on the Town Center, as the heart of Play-Doh Town. The videos should feel like entertainment, NOT a toy commercial.
The characters should be sculpted to resemble the characters seen on the box of the Play-Doh Town playsets. To see examples of what these characters look like please refer to the Assets Tab. They all have the same styling. There is no core cast with names/identities yet, so specific characters have not been established. However, if for example the story is based around the firehouse, you should style the character to look like the toy character in the firehouse set.
*** The Pitch winner will need to be available for a pre-production call with the Sponsor to be scheduled between the dates of July 13 - July 15. The Sponsor will need to sign off on your treatment and character designs prior to starting production on all of the videos.***
NOTE: The Pitch winner will be responsible for delivering three (3) 120-second Videos and three (3) 15-second cut-downs, and fifteen (15) still images. These assets are all due sequentially as follows:
VIDEO 1
VIDEO 2

This Project will be worth a total of $56,000 and consists of 4 Phases: an Concept Phase, a Script Phase, a Pitch Phase, and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: CONCEPT - Tell us your Concept for a Play-Doh Town stop-motion animated mini-movie series in 500 characters or less. Remember, a Concept is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Concepts should be clever and engaging. The five (5) most entertaining Concepts will be selected as winners. Each of the five Concept winners will receive $500 upon submitting their Winner’s Affidavit and IP Assignment. There are no residuals on this project.
PHASE 2: SCRIPT - Upload a PDF of your SCRIPT for a 120-second Play-Doh Town stop-motion animated mini-movie based on one of the winning Concepts. You can use the text box to provide a log-line or overview of your Script using 250 characters or less. The three (3) most compelling Scripts will be selected as winners and will each receive $1,000 upon submitting their Winner’s Affidavit, IP Assignment, and final revised script. All scripts will remain private until after the Project is complete.
--Script Phase Payout: The three winners of the Script Phase will each receive $1,000 upon submission of their final revised scripts. You may be asked to collaborate with the Pitch Winner to finalize the Script.
PHASE 3: PITCH - Submit your Pitch convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:
The one (1) most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $15,500 to help create the Videos. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in the winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $35,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 4: VIDEO – The one (1) winner from the Pitch Phase will create three (3) 120-second Videos, along with a 15-second cut-down and five (5) still images per Video, based on their winning Pitch.
NOTE: The three (3) 120-second videos, three (3) 15-second cut-downs and (15) still images are all due according to the timeline outlined in the Project Objectives section. Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.
--Video Phase Payout: The winner of the Video Phase will earn $35,000 at the close of the project, and upon submitting all require talent releases, location releases, and Music and SFX releases.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers: Audioblocks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form.
