Plarium is looking to create a suite of Facebook videos for Vikings: War of Clans that focuses on social gaming and the ability to play with others.

Imagine being a Viking chief in a ruthless world governed by freedom, power, fear and violence. In this world you must lead brave warriors into battle, conquer the world and prove your mighty rule against other clans from all over the world.

Welcome to the world of Vikings: War of Clans.

Vikings: War of Clans (created by Plarium, one of the world’s fastest-growing developers of social, mobile and web-based games) is a strategy MMO (massively multiplayer online) game where players have to cooperate with each other to create their own clan. The main game goal is to capture the place of power – a unique location placed at the center of every kingdom.

Working with Tongal, Plarium is looking to create a suite of Facebook videos for this game that focuses on social gaming and the ability to play with others.

If you’re down to play, please read below for more information:

  • We’re looking for two filmmakers to each create a suite of social content.
    • Suite A: ONE (1) 15-second video and TWO (2) cinemagraphs
    • Suite B: THREE (3) 6-second videos.
    • Please specify which suite of content (A or B) you are pitching against. You are welcome to pitch on both suites in separate pitches.

  • We’re not expecting you to cast Liam Nielson in your video (unless of course you can). Instead, we’re looking for you to focus on the social aspects of the game and the ability to play with others.

  • Check out the examples of good and bad videos. The "good videos" are "good" because they highlight the social aspect of the game.

  • As these videos will be playing on Facebook, please check out our Facebook best practices in the assets section.

  • The takeaway from your content should be: I want to download and play that game now!

  • In-Game assets will be provided to the pitch winners as well as a bumper.

The goal of this project is to create a suite of Facebook videos for Vikings: War of Clans that focus on social gaming and the ability to play with others.

--Key Marketing Messages:

The key marketing message is to show off the social gaming experience and show that individuals can play for free.

--Taglines: Join mighty clans! Conquer the world! Forge an Army!

--Target Audience: The target audience is mostly men between 25 and 55. However, there is a small but active community of women as well. Your videos should be related to the target audiences.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • Please do not show blood.
  • Text in your video should be used sparingly.
  • Do not show or refer to other games.

--Tone: The tone of your content should be similar to Vikings (the TV show) and Game of Thrones.

--Exposure: Facebook Ads

This project will be worth a total of $25,000 and consists of THREE (3) phases: a Pitch Phase, a Video Phase and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the sponsor why you should be selected to execute a suite of videos using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.

  • Deliverables (REQUIRED):Select which suite you’re pitching on. You can pitch on both in separate submissions.
    • Suite A: ONE (1) 15-second video and TWO (2) cinemagraphs
    • Suite B: THREE (3) 6-second videos.

  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in your suite of videos.

  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.

  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.

  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.

  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a pitch video in which you tell the sponsor what they can expect should they choose your pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The TWO (2) most compelling pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $5,000 to help create the video. Additionally, upon submitting a video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning pitch, the pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, ifyour pitch is selected and you execute your pitch effectively in your video submission, you will win an additional $7,500. For an example of an effective pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the project is complete.

PHASE 2: VIDEO - Once the Pitch Phase is complete, the pitch winners will each create a suite of videos based upon his/her winning pitch.

-Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st and 2nd place $7,500.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your video submission to this project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

Tongal members interested in a custom music solution for your project are invited to connect with SCORE A SCORE. They specialize in the creation of custom music, on-demand.

Their business model is based on a "name your price" system, so you can tell them what your budget is, and they will work with you to create a deal configuration that will work within the discussed parameters. Check out the FAQ for more information and how to contact SCORE A SCORE.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your video paperwork.

PHASE 3: REVISIONS - Once the Video Phase has closed, the winning submitters will enter the Revisions Phase (What is a Revisions Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the sponsor’s feedback. Once the videos are finalized, winners will be announced.
