Pip's Next Adventure Concepts Project
Concept
04/10/20 - 04/22/20

Expand Pip's universe or create her next adventure with concepts for a feature or series adaptation of the record-setting animated short.

Over 157 million people have seen, shared, and fallen in love with Pip, the animated story of a young Southeastern Guide Dog puppy determined to graduate from guide dog puppy school (if you haven't seen Pip, pause here and go watch her story immediately. Bring tissues.). The goal of this project is to expand Pip's universe or set her on her next adventure with concepts for a feature or series adaptation of the record-setting animated short.

Pip is so beloved (one of the most-viewed animated shorts on YouTube!), and her story is so important, that we want to try and develop it as a full-length feature or series. This can entail meeting some of Pip's puppy classmates, following along with Pip as she's matched with a service or guide dog recipient, or following Pip into the 'real world' with working guide and service dogs, or more.

While we encourage creativity, your concepts should still be true to Southeastern Guide Dogs' founding principals and operational mission. Read more about that in the Background section.

EXPOSURE: Digital, broadcast, or theatrical release, depending on medium and format.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Dog lovers everywhere
  • Existing Pip fans
  • Potential donors nationwide; typically affluent women ages 55 – 75 who love dogs.

TONE: Uplifting, inspiring, exciting, hopeful, dramatic

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Consider keeping the story from the dog or dogs' perspective
  • Your concepts should revolve around SEGD guide and service dogs for recipients with visual impairments, veterans with disabilities and children with vision loss
  • Your concepts should integrate puppies in a compelling way
  • Do not show rescues, strays, or any other breeds/mixes as SEGD dogs. All Southeastern Guide Dogs are Labradors, Golden Retrievers, or Lab-Golden crosses, bred and raised on-campus.

For over 35 years, Southeastern Guide Dogs has been breeding, raising, training, and caring for puppies that become life-changing guide dogs, service dogs and companion dogs for people with visual impairments, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges such as vision loss or loss of a parent in the military. Southeastern Guide Dogs matches all of their recipients with their dogs free of charge. They rely 100% on private donations and receive no government funding.

Southeastern Guide Dogs breeds, raises, trains, and pairs each dog with a purpose – to serve as seeing eye dogs and guide dogs for people with vision loss and veterans with disabilities.

TONGAL ORIGINALS INCUBATOR & THE SPONSOR:

  • This project is part of the Tongal Originals Incubator program, and we're partnering with Southeastern Guide Dogs on it. Since the project is original internal development and isn't set up with any kind of distribution yet, it's too early to talk about where it goes from here, and what platform, network, or studio might be interested in it.

OWNERSHIP/PARTICIPATION:

  • Submissions Not Selected by Sponsor: All rights to Entries that are not selected by Sponsor will revert back to the submitters 3 months after the close of the Project.
  • Submissions Selected by Sponsor: The rights to the Entries that are selected by Sponsor will be owned by the Sponsor in perpetuity. Should content based on a winning Entry be produced, the Sponsor intends to reward the submitter with some profit participation in the production. Exact terms TBD. No specific terms can be guaranteed at this time given that the terms will be negotiated with a third party in the event of a sale.

Tell us your concept in 250 characters or less. Remember, a concept is not a detailed script — it is a spark of inspiration or a distillation of what will happen in the video. As always, concepts should be clever and engaging.

Three greenlit concept creators will receive $250 each. Should your concept be selected, you must complete the Winner Affidavit and IP Assignment forms in order to receive payment.
