Create a suite of 6 Videos optimized for Facebook that showcases the fun and daring versatility of the deliciously appetizing My/MoTM Mochi Ice Cream snacks and how they seamlessly fit into your individual, everyday lifestyle.

Sweet and succulent mango, decadent chocolate, ripe and juicy strawberry – are your taste buds tingling yet? These are just some of the 6 delectable brightly colored flavors of My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream. Soft pounded sticky rice dough filled with just the right amount of premium ice cream, it’s the perfectly sweet and satiating cold snack to reach for morning, noon, or night. And if being completely drool worthy wasn’t enough, My/Mo’s eye-popping colors are also ridiculously satisfying – seriously, check ‘em out for yourself.

This is where you come in. My/Mo needs your help to create bold and fun flavor videos featuring their delicious mochi in vibrant and edgy ways to show how My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream consumers live their most delicious lives by embracing the unique and the colorful. Though you may recognize Mochi as traditional Japanese dish, these Videos are all about showing a modern, multicultural and diverse opportunity for enjoyment – we want people to know that My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is a snack that can be enjoyed by anyone, anytime, anywhere! So please don’t feel you should focus on that history.

Read on to the Objectives for more…

The goal of this project is to create a suite of 6 Videos optimized for Facebook that showcases the bold and fun versatility of the deliciously appetizing My/Mo frozen Mochi Ice Cream snacks and how they seamlessly fit into your individual, everyday lifestyle.

STYLE AND TONE:

This project is all about conveying a sharply defined style and tone, and those who apply that outlook to everything in their lives. If we only had four words to describe what we’re looking for from your suite, we’d choose fun, diverse, vibrant and edgy. What exactly do we mean by vibrant and edgy? Here’s a good example:

https://vimeo.com/192660334

We obviously don’t want to take it THAT far (keep it PG please!), but we DO want you to push the creative envelope with this. Notably, the link above is an ode to diversity and a celebration of empowerment, and your Videos need to contain similar sentiments. It’s really important that you nail the style, live action blended with motion graphics, with but beyond that, let your imagination run wild with the story and structure – your Concepts should NOT remake the Video above, but should take it as a source of style inspiration. How would you create 6 videos that take the viewer through a colorful journey highlighting each unique mochi flavor while showing how they seamlessly and organically fit into everyday life?

Keep in mind:

  • Not only the story but also the talent you use for each video should be as diverse and unique as the My/Mo Moch Ice Creami flavor – we’re talking serious world-building here.
  • Of course, the mochi ice cream needs to look mouth-wateringly delicious.
  • At the same time, your color palette for each video should have a multi-hued look and feel reflective of the My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream flavors. Take a look at the Sample Art in the Assets tab to get the mood/tone we’re looking to evoke.
  • The inspiration video should serve as just that, inspiration. Aesthetically, use that as a guiding light, but we’re looking for Concepts that lay down a new story & structure.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The 6 flavors to highlight are: Green Tea, Double Chocolate, Sweet Mango, Vanilla Bean, Cookies and Cream, and Ripe Strawberry
  • We’re not looking for spots that strictly focus on describing the food - your Videos should be a balance between the beautiful My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream and colors that bring it to life.
  • Keep it gender neutral – we want this to feel inclusive to both males and females.
  • Do NOT use “all natural” although “natural” is allowed.
  • Do NOT use the words: recipe, dessert, sweet, treat, dairy-free, gluten free.
  • When showcasing the mochi, it can NOT have any bite marks and should be free of saliva.
  • The talent can be shown biting into the mochi.
  • Ensure that the mochi is seen enjoyed in the daylight – we want this to be seen as a snack, rather than just an after-dinner dessert.

This project requires that your Video is optimized for Facebook. There is a guide in the Assets tab on these best practices, but here are the high-level call outs:

Facebook Best Practices

This has to catch audiences’ attention within the first 3 seconds. That means it has to be visually engaging from the get go, the punch line does not come at the end of the spot. Your story must be able to be understood without sound. Your cut needs to include graphic subtitles – see the best practices document for how this is effectively done. This will also have to be cut for a 1:1 and 2:3 aspect ratio so make sure the critical action happens in the center of the frame.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FILMMAKERS:

Mood board/Style Board: You are required in the Pitch Phase to submit a mood board/style board  that conveys your thematic design idea for each spot. This can be a collection of textures, images, descriptive words - anything that helps evoke or project your intended style for the suite. Additionally, you will need to include logline/synopsis for each video. It is strongly encouraged that you Pitch with Headshots of the talent you might cast, though it is not a requirement.

Test Video Notes: This project involves a Test Video Phase before the Video Phase, and Pitch Winners will be required to create a 30-second Test Video that will be delivered 10 days after the close of the Pitch Phase. The Test Videos are incredibly important, you need to choose/shoot something that clearly represents your ultimate vision, even if it’s a rough approximation. You have the flexibility to be creative in how you approach this Test Video - it can be a full Animatic, a rough-cut Video that you shoot, or a Ripomatic with footage edited together from a number of other sources. All two Videos from this phase will be tested by the Sponsor and used to select a Winner for the Video Phase.

PRE-PRODUCTION NOTES: This project includes a Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). This means you will be required to submit certain items for Approval before moving onto the Video Phase. The Approval items for this project are:

  • SCRIPT  – This project requires Script Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The brand may provide feedback on your Script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a Script is approved by the brand.
  • HEADSHOT  – This project requires Headshot Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit at least two actor options per role. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options.
  • LOCATION - This project requires Location Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. This means you will need to submit multiple images of your primary location. The brand may provide feedback on your location and ask you to submit additional photos or to find a new location and submit images for that.
  • WARDROBE - This project requires Wardrobe Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You will need to submit descriptions and/or pictures of your cast’s wardrobe. You must submit at least two wardrobe options per role. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new wardrobe options.
  • STYLIST – This project requires Food Stylist Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit your planned Food Stylist with your Pitch submission. Once chosen as a Pitch Winner, the brand may either approve your Stylist or ask you to submit a new one for approval.

BRAND ON SET: The Sponsor will be on set during for the Video phase shoot to provide input. You will need to provide a dedicated video village, a staff member who will ensure all feedback from the Sponsor is communicated to the Director, and hard copies of the script, along with a shot list and the day’s schedule.

NOTE: The 6 60-second videos and 6 15-second cut-downs, and 5 still images per Video are all due at the close of the Video Phase.  Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

This Project will be worth a total of $92,000 and consists of 6 Phases: a Concept Phase, a Pitch Phase, a Test Video Phase, a Pre-Production Phase, a Video Phase and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: CONCEPT – Tell us your Concept in 250 characters or less. Remember, a Concept is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Concepts should be clever and engaging. The winning Concept creators will receive $500 each– see Video Phase Payout details for more information.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in the video. It’s important to note that your treatment must visually and textually describe how you intend to bring each individual flavor to life and the associated story.
  • Moodboard (REQUIRED): A visual tool that helps communicate the overall thematic design of your Videos. This can be a collection of textures, images, descriptive words - anything that helps evoke your intended style for the suite.
  • Food Stylist (REQUIRED) – This project requires Food Stylist Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit your planned Food Stylist with your Pitch submission. Once chosen as a Pitch Winner, the brand may either approve your Stylist or ask you to submit a new one for approval.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (SUGGESTED): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

PHASE 3: TEST VIDEO - The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $4,500 to help create the Test Video, based on their winning Pitch from the previous phase. Additionally, upon submitting a Test Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED an additional $4,500  at the close of the Test Video Phase, and be eligible for selection to move forward into the Video Phase. All Test Videos will remain private. If, after the testing period, your Test Video is selected, you will move on into a formal Pre-Production Phase and be paid $36,500 to help create your Videos.

PHASE 4: PRE-PRODUCTION – The winner from the Test Video will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). During this phase, the filmmaker will need to receive the following Approvals from the brand:

You must submit your planned Stylist with your Pitch submission. Once chosen as a Pitch Winner, the brand may either approve your Stylist or ask you to submit a new one for Approval.

IMPORTANT: No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense) so please don’t jump the gun.

PHASE 5: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Test Video Winner will create 6 60-second Videos with 6 15-second cut-downs, and 5 still images per Video based upon their Test Video. The 60-second Videos and 6 15-second cut-downs, and 5 still images per Video are both all at the close of the Video Phase. Please upload them as separate Videos when submitting.

--Video Phase Payout:  Upon delivery of the final Master Video files, the Winner of the Test Video Phase will be paid out an additional $36,500. There are no residuals on this project.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

Tongal members interested in a custom music solution for your project are invited to connect with SCORE A SCORE. They specialize in the creation of custom music, on-demand.

Their business model is based on a "name your price" system, so you can tell them what your budget is, and they will work with you to create a deal configuration that will work within the discussed parameters. Check out the FAQ for more information and how to contact SCORE A SCORE.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential of up to $500 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.

PHASE 6: REVISIONS – Once the Video Phase has closed, the winning submitters will enter the Revisions Phase (What is a Revisions Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their Videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback. Once the Videos are finalized, the Sponsor will rank the Videos and winners will be announced.

1. The Videos MUST not exceed 60-seconds in length. Preferred format for upload to the Tongal website is HD 720p 16x9. Acceptable file formats are .mov, .avi, .mp4, .wmv. Acceptable codecs are H.264 (MP4), MPEG-4, H.263, MPGV, WMV, DivX. Should you win, you will also be required to provide a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec

2. Unless provided otherwise, all work must be your own original creation and free of any copyrighted material. You shall provide detailed information of your work regarding the source, the creator and background information as requested by Tongal.

3. In the event you utilize any third party materials, such as music provided by a third-party music provider not provided by Tongal, you must obtain full written license and consent from the owner of such third party materials and provide such license and consent forms to Tongal.

4. BY SUBMITTING A VIDEO ENTRY, YOUR SUBMISSION IMMEDIATELY BECOMES THE SOLE PROPERTY OF TONGAL OR ITS ASSIGNEES – SEE OFFICIAL RULES FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT OWNERSHIP OF ENTRIES. YOU MAY NOT PUBLICLY SHARE OR PUBLISH YOUR SUBMISSION IN ANY MANNER AND YOU MAY NOT POST OR UPLOAD YOUR SUBMISSION TO ANY WEBSITE OR VIDEO HOSTING SITE (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE OR VIMEO), WITHOUT THE PRIOR EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT OF TONGAL. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF YOUR ENTRY IN THE PROJECT.

5. Submissions cannot contain any profanity, offensive language, nudity or otherwise objectionable material, the determination of which is solely at the discretion of Sponsor.

6. Submissions must not portray Sponsor in a negative way, the determination of which will solely reside with Sponsor.

7. By submitting to this project, you acknowledge that your work may become subject to public voting on the Tongal site. Public voting may be used to help the project sponsor determine the final rank order.

8. Videos must be in the English language or subtitled.

9. Limit 5 submissions per member, per Phase.

10. You must be at least thirteen (13) years or older to enter.

11. In the event that fewer than 20 Pitches are received, the Sponsor reserves the right to repost the contest for up to fourteen (14) days at their discretion.

12. In addition to the judging criteria stated in the OFFICIAL RULES, Pitches will also be evaluated on that member’s ability to execute the final Video based on their prior work and experience as a filmmaker.

13. The Sponsor will be entitled to reasonable revisions on the finished Videos without providing additional compensation. Remember it’s easier to re-edit than re-shoot so try to get as much coverage as possible.

14. In addition to the standard Tongal W-9, Winner Affidavit, and IP Assignment, winning Video creators MUST also provide Talent, Location, Music (or other) Releases for all assets appearing in their winning Videos, as well as a photograph/headshot  OR copy of a photo ID for all On-camera Talent releases. You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec to claim your prize.

15. See OFFICIAL RULES for additional contest information, terms and conditions. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between these requirements and the Official Rules, the terms and conditions of these requirements shall prevail.
