Create three (3) :06-second Pre-roll Videos that encourage people to ‘find their mo’ and support for Movember in Australia and New Zealand by buying a special pack of Lynx bodyspray or body wash (the mo you buy, the mo we give).

The rise of the Magnum, Handle Bars, Soul Patch and the Zorro.  These types of Mustaches are more-than-welcomed in November, where all your male friends and colleagues show up clean-shaven and baby-faced on the first of November and look like movie villains or grizzly bears by end of the month.  Yes, for 30 days, it’s a chance for dudes to show off their ’staches, Fu Manchus, mutton chops and other furry face-warmers in an effort to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, and men’s health issues.

Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide.

Lynx (which is Axe Body Spray in the USA) is partnering with Movember in Australia and New Zealand and would like the Tongal community’s help making it easier to tell people about it.  Your videos should inspire, be humorous and raise awareness that generate interest in Lynx Movember products all within :06 seconds.

Please read the remainder of the Brief for all the important details.

The goal of this project is to create three (3) entertaining and engaging :06-second Pre-Roll Videos that help encourage people to ‘find their mo’ and support Movember by buying a special pack of Lynx bodyspray or body wash.

Movember started as a fundraising movement where guys could be sponsored to grow a mo’ (moustache) in the month of November. The money raised from family, friends and colleagues would then be used to fund game-changing men’s health initiatives. Movember has grown to be a global community of over 5 million “Mo’ Bros” and “Mo’ Sistas” who all raise money to stop men from dying too young.

Lynx (or Axe in some markets) is a brand that has in the past been associated with traditional ideas of masculinity. If you wear Lynx, you get the girl.

Today, Lynx has evolved.  It is defined by a more contemporary idea of what it means to be a man; the idea that attractiveness comes from what makes you as an individual, unique.  It’s an idea that supports confidence and respect, it’s a concept that’s progressive and inclusive.

Key Seasonal Consideration: Keep in mind we’re talking about November in Australia and New Zealand so this means summer is about to get underway. Any creative that has a seasonal or outdoor component should reflect this.  Finally, please NO Thanksgiving references, as this holiday is not relevant to the target audience.

Note to Pitch Submitters: The winning Filmmaker will be responsible for the three (3) Pre-Roll Videos. When crafting your Pitches, think of how you would include the below marketing and tone criteria into your narrative. Please take this into consideration when pulling your pitch materials together. (Please see Six Second Videos Best Practice Guidelines.)

If you’re selected as a Pitch Winner, a Tongal producer will email you to help walk you through the Pre-Production and Approvals process.

--Key Marketing Messages: Lynx is all about celebrating the unique things every guy has that make him attractive, we want to celebrate mo’s and how they add a little something.

--Target Audience: Australian and New Zealand Men 14-39 years old.  Australia and New Zealand are on the precipice of Summer in November so allow for wardrobe and pitches to be made for summertime.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • It should appeal to Australian sensibilities and any speaking roles should have an Aussie accent
  • Must feature the product in the video, and be visible enough so people know what they are looking to buy when they go in store (see attachment for actual products)
  • REAL MO’s ONLY (facial hair) no fakes!

--Tone: Brand key / humor being important and guidance.

--Exposure: Australia and New Zealand digital & social platforms.

--Tagline:

  • Find Your Magic. Find Your Mo’.

--Audience Insight: When chatting to the audience about this, there’s one quote that stood out:

  • “When you see a guy with a mo’ during Movember, you just think...yeah… he’s a top bloke. I find myself saying to strangers ‘nice mo’ bro’ ”
  • This is where we’d like to focus: Having a mo’ during Movember is adding a bit more magic, to you.

--Deliverables: Three (3) six (6)-second Pre-Roll Videos. Please see Six Second Videos Best Practice Guidelines.

This Project will be worth a total of $15,000 and consists of four (4) Phases: a Pitch Phase, a Pre-Production Phase, a Video Phase and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in the video.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (REQUIRED): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.
  • Pitch Video (Optional but recommended): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The one most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $9,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $6,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $6,000 First Place video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 2: PRE-PRODUCTION – The one Pitch Winner from the Pitch Phase will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will need to receive the following Approvals from the brand:

SCRIPT  – This project requires Script Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The brand may provide feedback on your Script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a Script is approved by the brand.

STORYBOARD - This project requires Storyboard Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The brand may provide feedback on your storyboard and ask you to submit a new version of the storyboard.

HEADSHOT  – This project requires Headshot Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit at least two actor options per role. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options.

WARDROBE - This project requires Wardrobe Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You will need to submit descriptions and/or pictures of your cast’s wardrobe. You must submit at least two wardrobe options per role. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new wardrobe options.

No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense) so please don’t jump the gun.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Pitch Winner will each create three (3) six (:06-second) Pre-Roll Videos based upon their winning Pitch.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $6,000.

--Music: For this project, Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers for this project: Jingle Punks and Killer Tracks  which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using this music provider, click on the provider’s name above.

Tongal members interested in a custom music solution for your project are invited to connect with SCORE A SCORE. They specialize in the creation of custom music, on-demand.

Their business model is based on a "name your price" system, so you can tell them what your budget is, and they will work with you to create a deal configuration that will work within the discussed parameters. Check out the FAQ for more information and how to contact SCORE A SCORE.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential the sum total of (5% of each Video amount,  up to $500 per place) in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.

PHASE 4: REVISIONS – Once the Video Phase has closed, the winning submitters will enter the Revisions Phase (What is a Revisions Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their Videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback. Once the Videos are finalized, the Sponsor will rank the Videos and winners will be announced.

1. The Video MUST not exceed six-seconds in length. Preferred format for upload to the Tongal website is HD 720p 16x9. Acceptable file formats are .mov, .avi, .mp4, .wmv. 13. The Sponsor will be entitled to reasonable revisions on the finished Video(s) without providing additional compensation. Remember it’s easier to re-edit than re-shoot so try to get as much coverage as possible.

14.
