Group 1:

  • A Lenovo Date (YOGA 3 Pro) - "A guy makes an awkward date at a fastfood restaurant romantic by using his YOGA 3 Pro to play mood music and a video of a candle flickering."
  • The Sous Chef (YOGA Tablet 2 Pro) - "When you're cooking, the countertop can get too dirty+messy for a tablet. Use the YT2 and HANG IT from a cupboard for recipes, music, etc."
  • Snack Freely (ThinkPad X1 Carbon) - "Study group uses gesture recognition on ThinkPad to scroll through notes, no interrupting finger-lickin'-good chicken wings to wipe hands."
  • Are we all out of that? (YOGA Tablet 2 Pro) - "Take a picture of the inside of your fridge and cupboards before shopping. Place tablet on shopping cart and check pictures while shopping."
  • Photobooth! (YOGA Tablet 2 Pro) - "Use the Lenovo Yoga Tablet to create a DIY photobooth at a party with all your friends and print wirelessly so you won't ever forget the fun."

Group 2:

  • Don't Turn The Page (ThinkPad X1 Carbon) - "A brilliant pianist uses a Lenovo tablet for sheet music that automatically scrolls upward."
  • Your Art Here (YOGA Tablet 2 Pro) - "Painting a mural on the wall? Want to trace a picture you have on your Lenovo? Just project the image on wall paper and draw paint perfect."
  • Never Stop Dancing (YOGA Tablet 2 Pro) - "Dancer gets to studio before everyone. Pulls out YOGA tablet, projects latest choreography on wall and joins. Dancer choreography become one."
  • Projector Alarm Clock (YOGA Tablet 2 Pro) - "Use Lenovo projector to cast a sunrise video on the ceiling above your head when traveling for work, activated along with alarm clock!"
  • Instant Backdrop (YOGA 3 Pro) - "Photographing an object for a design layout? Use your Lenovo! Just set a bokeh image as your wallpaper, place your object and shoot."

Whether it’s putting your mobile phone into a cup to enhance your music's volume, or using your tablet camera as a babycam, it’s small life hacks like these that make your ordinary routines extraordinary. Check out this example here.

--Key Marketing Messages:

Lenovo Communication Pillars: These pillars are the lens through which Lenovo shows its products and the brand.

  • Practical Innovation
    • At Lenovo we follow a simple principle when it comes to assessing an opportunity for innovation: a new thing is worth doing if users could do something new with it.
    • This means we never innovate for its own sake, or to gratify our ego. We innovate only so that our users can too. We call this practical innovation.
    • Innovation that helps you make the most of today.
  • Purposeful Design
    • People tell us we make some of the world’s most beautiful products.
    • Which of course, is very flattering, but it’s not our primary intention.
    • We design products first and foremost so they can be as useful as possible for our users. We call this purposeful design.
    • Design that helps you make the most of today.

--Target Audience: Lenovo is targeting Millennial Consumers, with a focus on physical design and advanced simplicity of product functions, and Young Professionals.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • Do not show nudity, profanity, substance abuse or violence.
  • Do not show competing products.
  • DO use a diverse cast that is representative of a global audience.

--Tone: The tone should be approachable and relatable, easy to understand. Think about being funny and comedic versus being too serious and techy. After watching the Videos, we want viewers to think:

  • “WOW. That makes total sense!”
  • “I have to have that!”
  • “How cool would that be?”

--Exposure: Your Video will be used on Lenovo owned channels including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Your Video will also be used at Lenovo events.

This project will be worth a total of $40,000 and will consist of THREE (3) Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA  – Tell us your Idea for Tips, Tricks and Hacks for a Lenovo tablet or laptop in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on a suite of FIVE (5) winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Treatment (Optional): A detailed narrative description of what's going to happen in the video.
  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The TWO (2) most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $5,000 to help create the suite of FIVE (5) Videos. Additionally, upon submitting a suite that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $13,750.

For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The TWO winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a suite of FIVE (5) 15 second Videos (each with a 6 second Teaser cut-down) based upon their winning Pitch.

NOTE: The suite of Videos, 6 second Teaser cut-downs, as well as the Social Pack: 1 (ONE) Behind-the-Scenes Video (up to two minutes), 5 (FIVE) Still Images (one from each Video), 5 (FIVE) GIFS (one from each Video) are all due at the close of the Video Phase. Pitch winners will be sent specific delivery instructions.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $13,750 and 2nd place $13,750.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Audioblocks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from any of the three providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form.
