Jerky Marketing Ideas Project
Marketing Idea
10/12/17 - 10/18/17

Generate innovative and entertaining Marketing Ideas that get consumers to consider jerky (beef, chicken, turkey, etc.) for snacking.

It’s time to think big, Tongalers. Instead of asking for your help with a specific brand, we’re tapping into your creative power to energize a whole industry: jerky.

That’s right - beef, chicken, turkey… you name it. We need some brilliant Marketing Ideas that will make consumers realize that jerky is the new go-to for snacking. It should be a pretty easy case to make because jerky has a lot going for it. It’s high in protein. Low in fat. It’s convenient and easy to take on the go. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated. And, of course, it’s delicious.

Think about all the tasty advantages of jerky and why someone would choose it over other snack options. Use those thought starters to come up with a succinct message that you want consumers to take away about jerky and snacking. For instance: “You can bring jerky anywhere” or “Jerky tastes better than other sources of protein”.

Then give us an attention-grabbing Marketing Idea that drives your message home and compels consumers to pick up some jerky. Check out the objectives section for more details.

What is a Marketing Idea?

Marketing Ideas are concepts for executing and extending a brand’s Campaign Idea in various media. Your Marketing Ideas should fall into one of three categories:

  • Social Media – Ideas that could be executed on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest or Twitter. For some great inspiration, check out these award-winning campaigns.
  • Event/Activation –  Live Events, Pop-up Stores, partnerships and out-of-the-box PR stunts like faking a meteor or jumping from outside of the atmosphere.
  • Video – Ideas for TV commercials, viral videos, web series, music videos, etc. This is similar to a typical Tongal Ideation project.

The goal of this project is to generate innovative and entertaining Marketing Ideas that get consumers to consider jerky (beef, chicken, turkey, etc.) for snacking.

Your submissions to this project should include the following:

  • Marketing Idea – What’s your concept that will grab people’s attention?
  • Message – What point do you want consumers to understand about jerky and snacking? Make sure your Idea is consistent with your message.

--Key Marketing Messages: The exact message is up to you but you should find a way to make jerky synonymous with great snacking in consumers’ minds.

This Project will be worth a total of $1,000 and consists of a Marketing Idea Phase.  Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: MARKETING IDEA – Tell us your Marketing Idea for jerky in 250 characters or less. Then tell us the message your Idea is conveying in 250 characters or less. Marketing Idea winners will receive $250 each.
