Create an epic, shareable video incorporating a YouTube trend with Hot Wheels cars for the Hot Wheels YouTube channel

and qualify to participate in the Hot Wheels Pit Crew Filmmaking Team.

Will you accept this challenge? Hot Wheels is all about accepting the challenges that come your way – embracing the epic fails and celebrating the triumphs! Hot Wheels is about competition, experimentation and creativity, where pushing the limits of imagination is the name of the game and the only failure is not trying. Hot Wheels is more than just a toy; it’s a jumping, crashing, flying, purpose-built, speed machine racing through the world.

And Hot Wheels audiences are on YouTube! You’ve probably heard of it – it’s that place you go to learn and be entertained at all hours of the day and night. Now Hot Wheels wants to tap the Tongal community to create videos around three massive YouTube trends. How you integrate Hot Wheels with these trends is entirely up to you!

Qualifying winning submissions will be entered to potentially participate in the Hot Wheels on demand video Pit Crew. The Hot Wheel’s Pit Crew will be a collective of creators on-call to create trending topic Hot Wheels videos for the Hot Wheel’s YouTube page.

Please read the remainder of the brief for all the important details.

This project is open to US residents only.

The goal of this project is to create a :60 or longer Hot Wheels video centered around one of the three designated trends below.  How you integrate Hot Wheels with these trends is entirely up to you.  Videos can have a UGC feel or they can look completely pro, it doesn’t matter as long as they’re engaging, interesting, and capture the imaginative and action driven spirit that Hot Wheels is all about. You should be able to answer the question “why would someone share this?”

NOTE:  This is an open Video project meaning there is no Pitch phase and anyone within the United States is free to submit a video.  You have until Monday July 31st to submit a video.  We know it’s fast but that’s the fun of it!

Choose one of these Trends to base your Video on:

YouTube Trends:

  • Fidget Spinners
  • Slime
  • Ball Pits

Before you polish up those cars and hit the record button you do need to be aware of some rules of the road. While we want to keep things free and open, in order for your video to have a chance at being selected as the winner we’ve provided a list of Do’s and Don’ts.

DO’S:

  • All videos must be a minimum of :60.  There is no maximum duration.
  • Have location and talent releases!  You can download the releases here.
  • Please use one of Tongal’s music partners.  That information can be found in the Details section of the brief.
  • Capture close up images of the product (i.e. Hot Wheels are small and fast, make sure you are able to get photos or close up images of the product)
  • Show alternative POV shots! Think slo-mo, think under the car, think about the stuff that happens too fast IRL to appreciate
  • Use current product line that is available at Toys R Us, Walmart, Target and/or Amazon
  • Kids should be shown in safe environments and must not be shown using product in unsafe situations that may encourage them to engage in dangerous activities (i.e. playing with Hot Wheels by an oven or on the stairs)

DON’TS:

  • Do NOT use any other toys or toy-like properties that are not Mattel branded toys.
  • Do NOT wear any logos or use IP protected props – ALL background images should be generic
  • Do NOT use any adult language
  • Do NOT use Hot Wheels cars that showcase another companies intellectual property (i.e. Star Wars, Batman, Nascar, Toyota, Porsche, etc...). Use Hot Wheels branded cars only.
  • Do NOT shoot on the following locations:
    • On the street
    • Driveways
    • Parking lots or other locations intended for car traffic
    • Stairway
    • Oven
    • Fire place/pit
    • Pool/Ocean (if near water make sure there is active adult supervision)
    • Balconies
    • Rooftops
  • Do NOT use any specific call to actions in your video (I.e. “like this video”)
  • Do NOT portray unsafe activity:
    • Fire or explosions
    • Unsafe tools and appliances
    • Unsafe stunts (i.e. Parkour)
  • Do not show anything hitting a person’s head
  • Do NOT shoot head on at the camera
  • Avoid major strobe lights

--Target Audience:  Boys ages 8 to 10, and should be engaging and understandable for Boys 5 to 7 as well.

--Exposure: The Hot Wheels YouTube channel

This Project will be worth a total of $750 and consists of 2 Phases: a Video Phase and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
