Tongal is looking for compelling, spooky, fun, and clever Halloween Scenics.
Have you always wanted to create and film a scary environment for Halloween? Well Tongalers, now is your chance. We are looking for engaging Halloween-inspired Scenics. What is a Scenic, you ask? It is a fun and visually interesting background scene you leave up on your television or monitor to create a certain kind of mood.
Here are some examples:
Whether it’s something truly terrifying or lighter and family friendly we want to hear your plan. Keep in mind these need to be a single shot and run continuously from 10 minutes to an hour. Also, we’d like people to push the envelope in terms of adding new and interesting elements as the scene progresses. In other words, just when you think the scene is getting stale something new is introduced.
This project will begin with a Pitch Qualification phase. In this phase, filmmakers who are interested will specify the scene they’d like to produce in 500 characters or less and some samples of their past work. From this pool, four filmmakers will be selected as the Pitch Qualification winners and paid $300 each to create a full-blown Pitch. If the sponsor decides to greenlight your Pitch, we will work with you to determine budget and timing. Keep in mind there is no guarantee pitches will be produced.
The goal of this project is to identify filmmakers who want to create fun and imaginative Scenics that would make for a great backdrop on Halloween. The Scenics can range from family-themed to something more terrifying and run anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. The longer the better!
If you are selected as one of the Pitch Qualification winners, you will be required to provide the following for your Pitch:
This consists of two Phases: a Pitch Qualification Phase and a Pitch Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: PITCH QUALIFICATION - This project will include a Pitch Qualification Phase which gives filmmakers the opportunity to submit a 500 character or less synopsis of their creative approach and samples of their previous work. Four Pre-Pitch winners will be selected to move forward into the Pitch Phase and awarded $300 each to complete a Visual Treatment and a Pitch Video to further articulate their vision.
At the end of the Pitch Phase, 4 Pitch winners will be selected from the group of Pitch Qualification winners. Please note that Pitch Qualification winners are not guaranteed to be greenlit into production. If you have any questions about Pitch Qualification, please post to our Forum or reach out to us at info@tongal.com.
The following is required for Pitch Qualification submissions:
PHASE 2: PITCH - If you are selected as one of the Pitch Qualification winners submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing Tongal why you should be chosen to execute a Scenic using:
