Heads up graphic designers and visual artists! We've got an awesome new kind of project that plays to your strengths. Introducing: The Froosh Print Ad and Billboard Artwork Project!
Froosh is a fun and sharp-witted 100% fruit smoothie in Scandinavia that needs YOU, the Tongal community, to create their next great print ad and billboard artwork. While the products are widely distributed in Scandinavia, they need YOUR help getting the word out through awesome advertising. And just in case you’ve been itching to use that Swedish minor you got in college, you’re in luck because ads can be in English, Swedish, or a mix of both! Sticking to plain English works just as well.
Froosh smoothies are different from juices and shakes because they are blended from the entire fruit—not just the juice, not just the skins – the entire fruit. Froosh lives up to its motto of “fruit: bottled.” There is nothing added and nothing taken away. Froosh wants health-conscious people in Sweden to know that they can get all the nutrients from fruit into their diets, with the ease of drinking one tasty bottle. Each bottle contains two servings of fruit with no added sugar, no fat, and no artificial anything. And with an assortment of unique, delicious flavors, it doesn’t take a lot of convincing.
Check out the product shots in the assets tab to get a feel for Froosh’s clever humor and copy the tone of voice- but don’t feel like you need to copy the style exactly. They’re looking for new, fresh ideas that will blend their sharp wit with their worthy mission: being healthy is easy, and delicious.
We’ll run this like a typical Tongal program with both Idea and Pitch phases, but instead of a Video phase as the final phase, there will be an Artwork phase to present your print ad and billboard art.
Create compelling artwork for both a print ad and a billboard that is intended to be used in Sweden. Artwork for each should be similar and adapted to the medium.
--Key Marketing Messages:
--Target Audience: Urban adults 20-35 in Sweden, but really everyone who wants to maintain a healthy diet.
--Executional Mandatories:
Do not mention the word ‘smoothie’ in the advertising (it means a yoghurt drink in Sweden)
--Tone: Sharp-witted, provocative, opinionated, bold, fun.
--Exposure: Intended for print ads and billboards in Sweden.
This Project will be worth a total of $10,000 and consists of three Phases: an Idea Phase, a Sketch Phase and an Artwork Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a witty, fun, awareness-building print ad and billboard in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed outline; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what the print ad or billboard should be. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each and a 5% one-time residual payment for any winning Artwork based on their Idea. (That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place print ad and billboard, you will receive $187.50, the 2nd place print ad and billboard $125, and 3rd place $100– see Artwork Phase Payout details for more information.
PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute print ad and billboard artwork based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:
The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $500 to help create the Artwork. Additionally, upon submitting Artwork that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Artwork Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Artwork submission, you will win an additional $2,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $3,750 First Place artwork prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Artwork Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 3: IMAGE– The 2 winners from the Pitch Phase will each create an A4 portrait size magazine print ad and a 48 adshell billboard based upon their winning Pitch. Please note, the billboard Artwork will not be to scale. See Requirements for more information. All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that can be based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase or a totally original concept that is not based on any winning material from the Idea Phase. The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the 1 highest scoring Wildcard Artwork along with the 2 winning Artworks submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Artwork Phase. Remember, the 2 Pitch winners, along with 1 Wildcard creator, will receive prizes.
--Artwork Phase Payout:Winners of the Artwork Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $3,750 and 2nd place $2,500, and 3rd place $2,000 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winners, as applicable).
--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Artwork creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential $412.50 bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
