Create a humorously clever Video that uniquely communicates that Fiber One’s new delectable layered bars offer an irresistible taste, containing no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners, allowing you to treat yourself everyday.

Fiber One believes that life is short so you should live each day to the fullest. They exist to celebrate treating yourself every day. And when you’re looking to “treat yourself” and channel your inner Aziz and Retta, food will most likely come into play. And as it should! There is nothing better than tingling your taste buds with a shake every crumb from the bag, scrape every ounce from the jar, goodie.  But how do you choose from so many earthly delights? Easy, Fiber One’s got you covered with their new mouth watering layered bars. Combining chocolate, crunchy oats and a soft caramel or chocolate topping mixed with nuts, they’ve officially taken the snack game to the next level. Available in two flavors, Double Chocolate Almond and Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate, these craveable bars will leave you begging for another…and another…and another. Be sure to check out pictures of these bars in the Assets tab to see just how delicious they look.

But it only gets better. Aside from being scrumptious, they contain no artificial flavors, no colors, and no sweeteners! A sweet and savory treat that you’ll feel good about eating; these new bars are the real deal. People want the treats they crave, but without the regrets. And because it’s Fiber One, this tasty bar delivers on health credentials, making it a delicious bar you can feel good about having every day.

So Tongalers, when you’re done drooling, here is where we’re turning to you. To help introduce these delicious new treats to the world, Fiber One is looking for a witty Video that uniquely communicates that these bars offer a great taste without the artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners. We’re not looking for a typical run of the mill “food porn” Video.  We feel that too often when we (over) analyze the food we eat, we take the enjoyment out of eating it.  We’re asking you to put on your creative thinking caps and come up with out the box scenarios that tie back to taste.  We want people to desire this product, but we don’t want it to be something we’ve seen before

What you need to know:

  • One filmmaker will create a 30-second Video optimized for YouTube and a 15-second cutdown optimized for Facebook. More information on optimizing videos for YouTube and Facebook can be found in the Objectives section.
  • When submitting your Concepts, you are required to submit a tagline as well. Check out the Objectives section for more information.
  • The driving force behind the Video should focus on the great taste associated with these bars; the secondary messaging should highlight that its ok to treat yourself because this taste comes with no artificial flavors, no colors, and no sweeteners.
  • Beauty shots of the product need to be featured throughout your spots, but “food porn” is not the only way to accomplish this spot. Too often when we over analyze the food we eat, we take the enjoyment out of eating it.  To that end, Videos can subtly poke fun at the “food porn” look and feel. Check out how Fiber One has successfully captured this look and feel in their previous videos:
  • During the shoot, the brand will have virtual product approval and producers are required to use a food stylist.

Please be sure to check out the Project Objectives for ALL the important details!

The goal of this project is to create an entertaining 30-second Video optimized for YouTube with a 15-second cutdown optimized for Facebook, that infuses witty situations and/or elements which communicates that Fiber One’s new delectable layered bars offer an irresistible taste that you can feel good about because they lack artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners.  Your Videos should also include 2D endcard or bumper, considering their most recent spots.

NOTE: All Pitch submissions must include samples from the food stylist you will use for your shoot.

This project requires that your Video is optimized for YouTube and Facebook. What does this mean exactly?  There is a guide in the Assets tab on these best practices, but here are the high-level call outs:

YouTube Best Practices

  • This has to catch audiences’ attention within the first 5 seconds. You can use audio to do this. We recommend putting the most interesting visual pieces of the Video within these first 5 seconds to keep viewers engaged, instead of showcasing the brand name or branded packaging. This means the punch line doesn’t come at the end of the spot.

Facebook Best Practices

  • This has to catch audiences’ attention within the first 3 seconds. You can NOT use audio to do this. That means it has to be visually engaging and the punch line does not come at the end of the spot. This cut needs to include graphic subtitles – see the best practices document for how this is effectively done. This will also have to be cut for a 1:1 or 2:3 aspect ratio so make sure the critical action happens in the center of the frame.

We’ve all seen the Videos that focus exclusively on glamorizing food in a prolific presentation; this is NOT the route we want to take. We think that this over-analysis takes the pure joy out of the food we love.  Your Videos should contain beauty shots to showcase the awesome look of these new bars, but we DON’T want something we’ve seen before. Rather, we’re looking for humorously clever ways to discuss the great taste and no regrets of Fiber One’s new bars. We even welcome you to subtly poke fun at the “food porn” phenomena.

In addition, Concept submitters will need to put on their marketing caps and submit a tagline. Your tagline can be a riff off of their current campaign “so delicious it should have another name”, or a completely new tagline, just so long as it’s quip and ladders up to the overall messaging of the Video – great taste without the artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners.

PRE-PRODUCTION NOTE: This project includes a Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). This means you will be required to submit certain items for Approval before moving onto the Video Phase. The Approval items for this project are:

SCRIPT  – This project requires Script Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. The brand may provide feedback on your Script and ask you to submit a new version. There may be multiple rounds of feedback until a Script is approved by the brand.

HEADSHOT  – This project requires Headshot Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit at least two actor options per role. If the brand does not approve either of your options for a role, you may be asked to submit two new actor options.

STYLIST – This project requires Food Stylist Approval before filmmakers move onto the Video Phase. You must submit your planned Stylist with your Pitch submission. Once chosen as a Pitch Winner, the brand may either approve your Stylist or ask you to submit a new one for approval.

IMPORTANT: No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense) so please don’t jump the gun.

If you’re selected as a Pitch Winner, a Tongal producer will email you to help walk you through the Pre-Production and Approvals process.

NOTE: The 30-video optimized for YouTube, the 15-second Video optimized for Facebook, and the 2D endcard/bumper are all due at the close of the Video Phase.  Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

--Key Marketing Messages:

  • Fiber One’s new bars are delicious without artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners.
  • These are irresistibly delicious bars that I can feel good about eating.

--Target Audience:

  • Men and women, typically middle aged with a family, who find a sense of joy in their food, and will never give up their treats. No matter their health aspirations, they will find room in their day to reward themselves with a treat.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • DO NOT create a spot that just shows striking visuals of the food aka “food porn”. Beauty shots should be incorporated but the overall goal is to create a video that uniquely messages taste in an unexpected or unique way
  • The product should look beautifully indulgently, not junky.

--Tone: Witty, humorous, fun.  Think along the lines of Mindy Kaling’s humor - witty, tongue-in-cheek humor that embraces universal, mainstream truths or experiences, particularly about how we obsess about food.  This is not about cheap jokes. Please stay away from the usual, expected tropes or of-the-moment memes remembering that this is target towards a more savvy consumer.

--Exposure: YouTube and Facebook.

--Product:  The sponsor will provide sample products to the winning producer.

This Project will be worth a total of $30,000 and consists of 4 Phases: a Concept Phase, a Pitch Phase, a Pre-Production Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: CONCEPT – Tell us your Concept that uniquely communicates that Fiber One’s new delectable layered bars offer an irresistible taste without artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners in 500 characters or less. Remember, a Concept is not a not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Concepts should be clever and engaging. The winning Idea creators will receive $500.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in the video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.
  • Headshots/Casting Boards (Optional): Casting notes or concepts, headshots of actors, etc.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $13,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch and approved by the sponsor, the Pitch winner will be paid an additional $16,000.For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: PRE-PRODUCTION – The Pitch Winner from the Pitch Phase will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will need to receive the following Approvals from the brand:

No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense) so please don’t jump the gun.

PHASE 4: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Pitch Winner will create a 30-second Video optimized for YouTube and a 15-second cutdown optimized for Facebook Video based upon their winning Pitch.

NOTE: The 30-second video, 15-second Facebook optimized cut-down, and 2D end-card or bumper are all due at the close of the Video Phase. Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prize: 1st place $16,000.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project.
