Create a mix of eye-catching animated videos and static images for some of the year-round offerings that T-Mobile has, keeping the creative and dynamic feel that has grown to be synonymous with T-Mobile.

T-Mobile's always got a lot of good stuff going on - whether it's perks, products, features, or phones - and when their employees turn to social media, all set to talk about that good stuff, they want to show up and post some dope content. In the past, that meant creating cool animated GIFs, and you've probably seen one of the many GIF projects that we ran last year. For 2023 though, we're evolving. Instead of GIFs, we're now delivering the same content as short videos, with sound and music, and none of the pesky quality trade-offs that come with the GIF format. Yay! With that in mind then, we're looking for animators, illustrators, and other design wizards who can create something elevated and unexpected, and this project's going to involve promoting T-Mobile's "evergreen" offerings, like global cell coverage and in-flight WiFi, their 5G Home Internet service, and the special phone plans they've got for first responds, veterans, and senior citizens.

The goal here is for you to create a suite of six assets to promote three different T-Mobile offerings, which we cover in the Background. The content needs to be bright, energetic, and eye-catching, and we'll need a single short animated video for EACH of three offerings, as well as a single static image for each offering, and they should all convey some key messaging about the various perks, features, and advantages that set T-Mobile apart. Videos can be anywhere from :05 to :20, but know that when they're used, they'll LOOP, so it'd be cool if you planned for that.

Two creators will be greenlit for this project, as we are looking to have some stylistic variety, and when we say "animated," we mean that we're open to traditional motion graphics and 2D, but also stop motion, 3D, papercraft, mixed media, or something else entirely. It's up to you, but keep in mind that this really is for T-Mobile's employees to share, top to bottom, and they're gonna share this on their own social feeds, for their own family and friends and business contacts. That means your style can't feel über corporate. Polished and professional, sure, but T-Mobile's the Un-carrier - think cool, clever, even a little quirky. You can use stock photography, but we don't want to see stock photos of smiling actors against a magenta background with some text - that's boring. We're also looking for more than motion text with crazy abstract shapes and lines. Check out some examples in the Background, then go wild.

For your pitch, we highly recommend submitting a proof of concept video or static image along with your Treatment. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: There are 6 total assets, per creator.

  • Three :05-20 hero videos (1x1); one for each offer (Get More, HINT, Plans).
  • Three static images (1x1); one for each offer (Get More, HINT, Plans).

TIMELINE: HERE

EXPOSURE:

TARGET AUDIENCE: Employee's friends, family, business contacts, and social networks.

TONE:

  • Unexpected, playful, polished, cool, quirky.
  • Stay away from anything that feels sales-y or ad-like.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • All copy should correspond to existing copy on the relevant T-Mobile's website for each campaign.
  • You should adhere to certain elements of the T-Mobile brand guidelines which will be shared with the two creators. In the meantime, a few specific callouts are below:
    • The primary logo to use is the full T-Mobile logo.
    • Always make Magenta (#E20074) the hero color in designs.
    • Other primary brand colors are Dark Magenta (#861B54), Dark Gray (#6A6A6A), Light Gray (#E8E8E8), Black (#000000), and White (#FFFFFF).
    • The official brand font is TeleNeo; the font will be provided to the selected creator.
    • Your video should avoid competitor colors (e.g. Verizon's reds, AT&T's blues).

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a bid. Though most projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit bid, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any bids via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, so please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We're working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and you should ensure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline and budget, while also ensuring everyone's safety.

T-MOBILE EVERGREEN OFFERINGS: While you should touch on some of the messaging below in your content, the text here is intended as description, not required copy.

  • Travel Benefits - With a T-Mobile plan, customers can get coverage beyond what's expected. Your content should cover these two key points:
    • In-Flight WiFi - Stay connected with free in-flight Wi-Fi, streaming, and messaging on T-Mobile's Magenta plans.
    • Simple Global Coverage - Connect, share, and text abroad with no setup or data-roaming charges.
  • Home Internet Service - T-Mobile's high speed 5G Home Internet is $50/month with Autopay, and T-Mobile won’t raise the price of your Internet, ever. No exploding bills. No monthly fees. T-Mobile also covers up to $750 in termination fees.
  • Plans - T-Mobile has special discounted coverage plans for these three groups, and you should touch on all three in each piece of content.

PREVIOUS T-MOBILE GIFS: Prior to this project, all content was delivered as a GIF, and these are just a few of the recent GIFs created on Tongal. They're a good example of how much stylistic diversity and freedom you have in approaching this project. For the static image assets, take a look at these and imagine what a single frame would look like.

  • Awesome Audio Products Social GIFs - Five different GIFs that are also prime examples of what we mean by "unexpected," like the "lion roaring" GIF as a way to express powerful sound.
  • #MyMagentaList Audio Products GIF - Simpler than we'd want here, but it's product-forward with a good energy.
  • Coolest Quarterly Report GIF - This pop-art approach is a great example of an "unexpected" approach that really brings style to the front.
  • Scam Shield GIF - The Scam Shield iconography that T-Mobile uses is pretty simple, so this GIF kept the messaging simple, but went over the top, and the extra style draws the eye and elevates this over a more straightforward version that might just have T-Mobile's actual Scam Shield logo.
  • Careers & Opportunities Videos - Although not technically GIFs, the style here is very much in line with this project.

In order to be considered for this project, you must include the below materials in your pitch submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal.
