Produce a creative and compelling video that shares the true inspirational story of an Ensure user who is a “Can-Do People” Story Winner, and showcases how they have the strength and energy to pursue their passions and live a full, active life.

With your help in another project, we’ve sourced two awesome Stories about people who embody the Can-Do attitude that Ensure stands for – people who don’t let aging or setbacks get in the way of doing the things they love, and who never lose sight of who they are. These Stories are also a fantastic showcase of actual Ensure drinkers, and spotlight how Ensure can provide the complete, balanced nutrition that some consumers need to find the strength and energy to keep pursuing their passions.

The Stories of these Can-Do people are also pretty diverse – no one thing defines them all, except that drive to be active and engaged every day, with their family and friends, or their colleagues and community.  We’re now asking YOU to bring one Story to life in a creative and compelling way, so check them out:

  • Chief Can-Do – Bill is a Chief of Police in Eastern Massachusetts, and a true protector of his community, with a career in law enforcement that spans 43 years. Despite his history of knee, neck, and shoulder surgeries, he drinks Ensure and plays hockey, runs 5Ks, completes tough mudders, rafts off waterfalls, and oversees the large scale policing operations at events like NFL football games. On weekends, he’s outdoors with family, larger than life, and always engaged.
  • Can-Do Cruisers – Helen and Byron are the motorcycling grandparents you wish you had. Just outside of Los Angeles, they’ve been together for over 58 years, and it’s their love of classic cars and motorcycles that has kept them active. From judging vintage car shows, to hours in the workshop, or weekend Harley rides with friends, they run circles around their children and grandchildren, and they drink Ensure for the nutrition it provides, so they can keep up this fast-paced lifestyle.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • If you win in the Pitch Phase, you will be required to make your own travel arrangements to film the Story subject.
  • Both Pitch Winners will have to make themselves available for a Pre-Production call with the Ensure team, and should not begin to schedule the production until after the call has taken place.
  • Both Pitch Winners will be required to coordinate with each other and a Tongal producer on the ultimate format, structure, and style of their Video, before and after production, to ensure a degree of consistency in look and feel across their Videos.
  •  You may use any existing footage or photography featuring a Story Winner so long as they control the rights to that content, you obtain permission from them and anyone else featured in that content, and then fill out our Photo & Video Release Form.
  • You will be required to shoot both lifestyle and portrait-style Still Photographs during your shoot, and you should use a separate still camera, or photographer, for this work.

Check out more details below…

Produce a 90 to 120-second Video, along with a 30 and a 15-second cut-down and 10 still photos, that shares the true inspirational story of a “Can-Do People” Story Winner, and showcases how Ensure gives them the strength and energy to pursue their passions and live a full, active life. Both of your 30 and 15-second cut-downs should be optimized for Facebook.

Your Video should be creative, clever, and compelling, finding a unique way to capture the many facets of the lifestyles and philosophies that define these Can-Do people. As inspirational stories, these should be shareable, and part of that means finding the right framework to tell your story. You should also think about touching on:

  • Tone: We want to increase the chance that these videos are shared by focusing on the tension, drama, and ultimate victory these Can-Do people have experienced to get where they are. Focus should be on their journey, with Ensure as a helper, not the hero.
  • Social Engagement: We know that people living a can-do life often touch the lives of many others. As part of your video, we’d love to hear how they are engaged with their friends, families, colleagues, and community. We also would love moments that show where friends or family members have benefited from (or helped) the subjects pursuing their “can-do” lives.
  • Age-related obstacles that they’ve overcome. Think about including something about how they’ve come to be able to do the things they love today - both from a physical standpoint, and from an emotional standpoint. It’s important that these obstacles don’t overwhelm the story though; they’re meant to be inspiring to everyone, so keep that in mind too.
  • Moments of Truth: We’d love to incorporate moments where these people share how they recognized that they needed to commit to a more proactive lifestyle. This could be something they decided to do for themselves – or, for others.

After Pitch Winners are selected, both filmmakers will be introduced to the Can-Do Story Winners and can begin to conduct pre-interviews and planning.

*** Both Pitch Winners will have to make themselves available for a Pre-Production call with the Ensure team, and should not begin to schedule the production until after the call has taken place. They will also need to coordinate with each other and Tongal, before and after production, to Ensure a degree of consistency in look and feel to their Videos.***

--Key Marketing Takeaways:

  • Ensure helps give you the strength and energy to get you back to being your true self.

--Executional Mandatories:

  • Make sure that by the end of the video it is clear that the Can Do person is an Ensure user.
  • Ensure brand integration on screen (logo or bottle), and on end-frame, but in a natural, unforced way.
  • “#1 Doctor Recommended” brand logo on the end-frame
  • A Call-to-action in the end-frame driving viewers to “Visit Ensure.com/CanDo for more Can Do People Stories."
  • Your TV spot must abide by the Campaign Guidelines document (an abbreviated version is attached in the assets section, and a full version will be provided to the Pitch Winners).

--Tone & Brand Character:

  • The tone: We want people to feel touched or inspired with these videos, so think authentic, relatable, positive, empowering, and emotionally engaging.
  • Ensure is: a source of optimism for those fighting a health issue; inspiration for people trying to maintain their roles in life; supportive, knowledgeable, trustworthy; a way to get healthier; a positive force in your healthcare regimen; a leader in innovative, science-based nutrition; engaging, relevant, modern; approachable, genuine, human.

--Target Audience:

  • Maturing adults, aged 55-75, who are facing, or have faced, a health event or slow decline in health that has left them struggling to regain their sense of self and maintain the roles they’ve enjoyed in life. They are Fighters, though, and they are willing to do anything to get back. This is important to keep in mind when considering what activities that these consumers who have experienced some sort of setback, are able to do.

--Exposure:

  • The video is intended for use in social media channels (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc), YouTube, and digital. The still photos may be used to create digital marketing materials and banner ads, as well as print ads, health-care provider marketing materials, and shopper marketing materials.

--Facebook Best Practices:

  • The first few seconds are the most important so consider leading with a hook, or telling your story in a non-linear manner. The introduction to the video is critical, and slow builds do not work in the Facebook platform. You might also consider using a "Trailer" approach with 2-3 lines of copy up front to frame/present the video.
  • Storytelling needs to be driven by visuals so you should be able to convey the important parts of the story without relying on sound at all. Tell visually engaging stories, and try to give your video a constant rhythm. Use text graphics, new frames, characters and settings to move the story forward. It is recommended that something visually happens every 3-5 seconds.
  • Shoot your Video with a 1:1 square aspect ratio in mind. Don’t put yourself in a position where you’re cropping out important visuals in post-production because you shot in 16:9 or widescreen. Embrace the format.
  • Review your edits on a mobile device.
  • Must have closed caption ability

This Project will be worth a total of $64,000 and consists of four Phases: a Pitch Phase, a Pre-Production Phase, a Video Phase, and a Revisions Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the Winning Can-Do Stories from the previous Project using:

  • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less synopsizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
  • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work. Please specify your role (producer, director, cinematography, etc.) and DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO YOUR SHOWREEL. Please link to individual videos.
  • Treatment (REQUIRED): A detailed narrative description of what’s going to happen in the video.
  • Script (Optional): This should include dialogue from the video you intend to create.
  • Storyboards (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, shot list, anything that helps get your point across.
  • Pitch Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you’re capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The TWO (2) most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $12,000 to help create their respective Videos. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED an additional $20,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 2: PRE-PRODUCTION – The two Winners from the Pitch Phase will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). At this point, Winners will be introduced to the Can-Do Story Winners and can begin to conduct pre-interviews and planning.

***Both Pitch Winners will have to make themselves available for a Pre-Production call with the Ensure team, and should not begin to schedule the production until after the call has taken place. They will also need to coordinate with each other, and Tongal, before and after production, to ensure a degree of consistency in the look and feel of their Videos.***

PHASE 3: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Pitch Winner will create a 30-second Video, along with a 15-second cut-down optimized for Facebook, as well as five (5) Still Photos, based upon their winning Pitch.

NOTE: The 90 to 120-second video, along with both the 30 and 15-second cut-downs, and ten (10) Still Photos are all due at the close of the Video Phase. Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

--Video Phase Payout: The Winner of the Video Phase will earn $20,000. There are no residuals on this project.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Jingle Punks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

Tongal members interested in a custom music solution for your project are invited to connect with SCORE A SCORE. They specialize in the creation of custom music, on-demand. Their business model is based on a "name your price" system, so you can tell them what your budget is, and they will work with you to create a deal configuration that will work within the discussed parameters. Check out the FAQ for more information and how to contact SCORE A SCORE.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

PHASE 4: REVISIONS – Once the Video Phase has closed, the winning submitters will enter the Revisions Phase (What is a Revisions Phase?). During this phase, filmmakers will perform reasonable edits on their Videos according to the Sponsor’s feedback. Once the Videos are finalized, the Sponsor will rank the Videos and winners will be announced.

1. The Videos MUST not exceed 120 seconds in length. Preferred format for upload to the Tongal website is HD 720p 16x9. Acceptable file formats are .mov, .avi, .mp4, .wmv. Acceptable codecs are H.264 (MP4), MPEG-4, H.263, MPGV, WMV, DivX. Should you win, you will also be required to provide a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec

2. Unless provided otherwise, all work must be your own original creation and free of any copyrighted material. You shall provide detailed information of your work regarding the source, the creator and background information as requested by Tongal.

3. In the event you utilize any third party materials, such as music provided by a third-party music provider not provided by Tongal, you must obtain full written license and consent from the owner of such third party materials and provide such license and consent forms to Tongal.

4. BY SUBMITTING A VIDEO ENTRY, YOUR SUBMISSION IMMEDIATELY BECOMES THE SOLE PROPERTY OF TONGAL OR ITS ASSIGNEES – SEE OFFICIAL RULES FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT OWNERSHIP OF ENTRIES. YOU MAY NOT PUBLICLY SHARE OR PUBLISH YOUR SUBMISSION IN ANY MANNER AND YOU MAY NOT POST OR UPLOAD YOUR SUBMISSION TO ANY WEBSITE OR VIDEO HOSTING SITE (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE OR VIMEO), WITHOUT THE PRIOR EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT OF TONGAL.  FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF YOUR ENTRY IN THE PROJECT.

5. Submissions cannot contain any profanity, offensive language, nudity or otherwise objectionable material, the determination of which is solely at the discretion of Sponsor.

6. Submissions must not portray Sponsor in a negative way, the determination of which will solely reside with Sponsor.

7. By submitting to this project, you acknowledge that your work may become subject to public voting on the Tongal site. Public voting may be used to help the project sponsor determine the final rank order.

8. Limit 5 submissions per member, per Phase.

9. You must be at least thirteen (13) years or older to enter.

10. In the event that fewer than 50 Pitches are received, the Sponsor reserves the right to repost the contest for up to fourteen (14) days at their discretion.

11. In addition to the judging criteria stated in the OFFICIAL RULES, Pitches will also be evaluated on that member’s ability to execute the final Video based on their prior work and experience as a filmmaker.

12. The Sponsor will be entitled to reasonable revisions on the finished Videos without providing additional compensation. Remember it’s easier to re-edit than re-shoot so try to get as much coverage as possible.

13. In addition to the standard Tongal W-9, Winner Affidavit, and IP Assignment, winning Video creators MUST also provide Talent, Location, Music (or other) Releases for all assets appearing in their winning Videos, as well as a photograph/headshot  OR copy of a photo ID for all On-camera Talent releases. You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec to claim your prize.

14. See OFFICIAL RULES for additional contest information, terms and conditions. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between these requirements and the Official Rules, the terms and conditions of these requirements shall prevail.
