Using existing footage and assets, edit together two suites of videos that feature the Upward app alongside a mix of either lifestyle footage, or testimonial footage from interviews with Upward members.
Upward makes it easy to find other single Christians to date by filtering out those who don't share your values. Upward is the cool new stepbrother to the Christian online dating world, bringing a fresh perspective to this outdated corner of dating apps. They want to show younger generations that Christian singles deserve to have fun too... and that it's not just about finding someone for bible study and church on Sunday.
The goal of this project is to re-edit and re-purpose a collection of existing footage and voiceover that was created in another recent project, in order to help Upward test out different visual and messaging approaches on broadcast and other digital platforms. This is an opportunity to play around with some beautiful footage and create new eye-catching content, but it's not intended to be a total rethink, and while Upward does have a few specific things that they're looking for with this footage, they'd still like to see your own interpretation of the original footage so that they have more to experiment with. Check out the Background to get an idea of specifically what they're looking for, and also find a link to the original script that the lifestyle footage was shot for. Upward does not want to recreate the script, but it's important to read it to understand the context in which this footage was shot.
You can find all the footage all the footage that you'll need HERE, and note that it's mostly RAW 16x9 footage, so for the 9x16 versioning, you'll need to crop and reframe what you create for the 16x9 aspect ratio. The footage is uncolored so we would be looking to have someone do basic coloring or use presets for the final videos. In addition to that, the Upward team does want to incorporate graphics of the app into the footage. You won't need to create any advanced motion graphics or animation, but we'd love to see creative approaches that feature the app so that it's engaging and doesn't feel like simple static presentations. How can you bring the app experience to life on screen with creative transitions? This goes for both lifestyle and testimonial assets.
For your pitch, given the variety of content here, and the amount of testimonial footage you'd need to ingest, we're just asking for a short treatment explaining how you'd plan to approach the full list of assets, and we're not asking you to cut anything together. However, it could still be helpful - to distinguish your pitch and illuminate that approach - to see a short sample video, so we've also included that option. If you do create a sample video, please create a sample of the :30 Lifestyle Video #1 with the App UI. Beyond that, it could be helpful to read about your experience cutting together short-form testimonial videos.
