Celebrate Characters Concept Project
Concept
06/15/21 - 06/21/21

Submit big, fun, enthusiastic concepts for videos or social posts that USA Network could use to celebrate the big characters - and even bigger personalities - on its original series and its library of movies.

Big, bold, brave - and tons of fun  - these are the personalities on USA. With fan favorites like Chrisley Knows Best, WWE Monday Night RAW, WWE NXT, the upcoming Chucky TV series, Miz & Mrs, or staples like Law & Order: SVU and Chicago PD, USA Network is THE destination for larger than life characters who are authentically and unashamedly themselves. We're talking about Nanny Faye's sassiest one liners. We're talking about Drew McIntyre bringing a Claymore to your face. We're talking the spiciest drama on Temptation Island. Did we mention movies yet? John Wick, Harry Potter, Captain America... everywhere you look, it's all characters that audiences LOVE, and they make you feel ALL the feels.

With all that in mind, USA Network is looking for different video or social content concepts designed to celebrate the characters from their TV and movie properties. The goal here is to get people to tune in, of course, but USA specifically wants to promote cross-promotion and cross-viewership of their properties. How can we cleverly connect characters from different shows so that we can get fans from one property to watch the other? What's the messaging? What's the format? What's the hook? What's the unexpected angle that's gonna get people excited?

USA is mainly looking for concepts that'll inform social media posts or short broadcast interstitial videos, and while you can certainly suggest something that involves a new video shoot with some talent, shooting with talent is difficult and movie talent won't be available, so they want to see a lot of concepts that DON'T involve a new shoot. Think about concepts that involve editing existing clips together, with motion graphics, illustrations, text, etc. In the end, messaging is key - and we just want to get people pumped about all the awesome characters on USA Network.

After all, it's the characters that make us.

  • TV enthusiasts of all stripes
  • Fans of USA Network shows and talent. The goal is to convert fans of individual shows to become fans of the USA Network channel and social media accounts.

TONE: Celebratory, fun, bold, broad, and enthusiastic

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

NOTE: We're testing a new feature on a project like this. In addition to the five concepts the Sponsor will be selecting, five additional submissions will be selected for Honorable Mention, and each will receive $50 for the great creative work that went into them. Submissions selected for Honorable Mention will not be used by the Sponsor, and not all submissions identified as Finalists will receive an Honorable Mention.

Tell us your Concept using up to 250 characters. Remember, a concept is not a detailed script - it is a spark of inspiration or distillation of what will happen in the final output. As always, concepts should be clever and engaging. Additionally, you should provide:

  • DROPDOWN (REQUIRED): Tell us which format your concept should take (social media post, broadcast promo, or other).
