Create an epic 60 to 90 second book trailer for BOLD. Videos should inspire viewers to want to change the world and compel them to pick up a copy of BOLD.
“Abundance showed us where our world can be in 20 years. BOLD is a roadmap for entrepreneurs to help us get there.”
-Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman, Google.
If you’re a budding entrepreneur (or a massively successful billionaire), chances are you’ve heard of Abundance. The New York Times Best Seller by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler introduced the world to the amazing technologies that will shape the future. Now BOLD, the follow-up book, shows you how to take advantage of them. This how-to guide gives readers ways to use crowd-powered tools and moonshot thinking to change the world and become a billionaire in the process.
Speaking of harnessing the crowd, what better way to prove BOLD’s thesis than by using Tongal to create an awesome book trailer? Now, we know the term “book trailer” immediately brings to mind trashy romance novels and narrators with phony southern drawls. Well forget about cheesy accents because the scope of BOLD is pretty epic and it demands an equally impressive trailer. We’re looking for mind-blowing and inspiring. Something that will get viewers excited to change the world and pick up a copy of BOLD to find out how. Check out the objectives section for some great examples of similar trailers and check the Assets tab for some more info on BOLD.
The goal of this project is to create an epic 60 to 90 second book trailer for BOLD. Videos should inspire viewers to want to change the world and compel them to pick up a copy of BOLD.
Reference Videos: Here are some similar book trailers that have the same feel BOLD is looking for:
Note on author Peter Diamandis: You may recognize Peter as the creator of the XPRIZE. We’ve included two interviews from Peter you can use in your trailer and you can find them in the Assets tab. Here’s some additional links for more background:
--Key Marketing Messages:
--Target Audience: Entrepreneurs of all ages (aspiring and professional).
--Executional Mandatories:
--Tone: Epic, inspirational (the name of the book is “BOLD”, remember?)
--Exposure: YouTube, Facebook and other social sharing platforms.
Bumper Note: Filmmakers will be required to create their own end tag bumper. The bumper should feature a product shot of the book (found in the Assets tab) and text should read, “Buy BOLD here.”
This Project will be worth a total of $25,000 and consists of two Phases: a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video:
The most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $4,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $7,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $14,000 First Place video prize. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 2: VIDEO – The winner from the Pitch Phase will each create 60 to 90 second Video based upon their winning Pitch.
All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission. The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the highest scoring Wildcard Video along with the winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the Pitch winner, along with the Wildcard creator, will receive prizes.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $14,000 and 2nd place $7,000.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Audiosocket, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from any of the three providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.
If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.
--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential $850 (up to $500 per place) in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
